Watsons Girl’s Day Out 2015

We spent almost 3 hours there and there wasn’t enough time to cover the entire segment as some of the booths were already closing then. But but, it was a Girl’s Day Out indeed! It was held at Serangoon NEX (which was really really really far for me but because it is Watsons, I have to go over no matter what!!), and I lugged home more than 6kg worth of goods! Haha.

By the way, Happy 27th Birthday Watsons!!!

 

Westies unite! We shared a cab home that evening.

 

We were so pampered from head to toes as we were introduced to the latest health and beauty brands be it cosmetics, hair, skincare, inner beauty supplements, health, and a lot of new brands (some can be quite shocking because you will never expect to find it in Watsons). Hahaha. As there were simply way too many many brands to cover (you guys know how big Watsons is right?!), I will only be touching on a few.

I think the girl’s favourite was the L’oreal  Revitalift Magic Blur booth because we can each score a $50 Zalora Gift Card there by posting a selfie with  Magic Blur on our Instagram.

 

It is retailing at $41.90 for a 50ml bottle. It can instantly blurs the look of pores, lines and imperfections. And with prolong use of up to 4 weeks, it is claimed to make your skin feels firmer and lines are reduced for younger looking skin.

Exture: mousse-cream and silky smooth.

 

And for their already famous extraordinary oil, my favourite was their latest range – Fine to Normal Hair SPRAYYYY. Yup, it works like a mist and is light weight.

 

 

I was also very impressed by Cetaphil Cleansing Cloth. And extra set was also delivered to me so I will be doing a review on it separately. I will explain how this saved me after my wisdom tooth surgery!!

 

The were also other new brands like Divinia and more.

I like it’s clean looking packaging and pocket friendly prices. A bottle of Triple Hydration Lotion (200ml) and a Triple Hydration Essence (30ml) are only retailing at $17.90 EACH. I always thought Essence would cost at least $30-40.

 

Okay, then I was attracted to Kustie because of the flower petals. You can find the petals inside the bottle of bath gel. My favourite was the Cherry blossom and Chamomile.  This brand is only exclusively available in Watsons at $19.90/bottle.

 

ASIENCE Inner Rich (Gold) and Nature Smooth (Blue) Ranges  which are already available and retailing from $7.95 onwards.

I have always love how nice ASIENCE products smells like!

 

Kinohimitsu was also another very generous booth. Drinks were served together with their health drinks.

 

That was not all. We were given a box of Kinohimitsu EyeBright and JointPro360 each.  I consumed one sachet of EyeBright on the spot because the lady was saying “you don’t have to mix it with anything else”. The taste was like the childhood crackling candies. It is suitable for everyone because even Vegetarians can eat it safely. I thought it was a little too sweet but they assured me that there was no sugar added. Yay!

And here come’s the toothpaste and mouthwash. Honestly, I am perfectly fine with any brands 🙂

 

 

 

 

Energeyes is retailing at $67.90/pair without prescription. This can help block out the harmful lights emitted by your gadgets like phones or iPad. About 50% of harmful blue light will be reduced. My dad is constantly on his iPad till he sleep every night so I thought of giving this to him the moment I received it.

 

Also, SILKYGIRL has hair dye now! Because of it’s current promotion, I bought an additional 2 boxes of dye for my mom. Each box of dye comes with a lipstick inside 🙂 Only $7.90/box.

 

Bioderma, as usual, need no further introduction. But they have a new item this time round – Bioderma Sensibio Lait Cleansing Milk which I thought was superb!! It is as light as milk but it does more than just gentle cleansing, removing the make up from face and eyes.

The people behind the booth were saying that it is ultra clean and you don’t have to double cleanse to remove all make up. I did a demo on my hand after the scribbled some lipstick on it and true enough, it works like magic! Already available in stores for $26.90 (250ml).

 

YUPINZHEN is also exclusively available in Watsons. I had a small bottle to bring back and I noticed the differences. It is filled with jelly-liked bird nest with little rock sugar unlike those big bottles you normally see. Price is a little steep though. 6 small bottles for $95. I guess that’s why it is filled with bird nest instead of the “water”.

 

For shampoo wise, I did not manage to cover everything as it was too late by then and the booths were all closing 🙁

Honeyce is a very very cute brand from Japan with high-quality and carefully selected natural ingredients. It is formulated with eight different types of honey sourced from different parts of the world: Manuka Honey, Raspberry Honey, Clover Honey, Rosemary Honey, Orange Honey, Lemon Honey, Acacia Honey and Blueberry Honey… and suddenly my hair sounds sweet instead of smelling sweet lol!

Let me just zoom in to my favourite – Lemonade Crab Meat Mayo. Judge yourself and ask if the ingredients are compromised even when the displays are at 50% off for takeaway. It tasted a little weird because lemon are refreshing while crab meat mayo is a little on the heavy side but it just gets better and you want more and more.

 

 

I actually quite like the Pork Ham & Cheese too but they were not as outstanding as the Crab Meat Mayo!

 

 

That was my favourite croissants but definitely not my favourite item in the menu because you can’t find eggs in the fillings.

MY ULTIMATE EGGS. THEY ARE HERE. AND WHO WOULD EVEN REALIZE THAT SCRAMBLE EGGS CAN BE THAT CHEAP FOR BRUNCH!!

Scramble Eggs with Chicken Sausage, Mushroom and Bacon ($5.90)

I preferred this than the scramble eggs (coming up next) later because I like the tinge of mushroom and bacon. It haves the scramble egg a more fulfilling taste. I ordered a second helping all to myself! Not sure if they have butter in the eggs but I thought I tasted butter (in a good way though).

 

 

Egg White Scramble with Smoked Salmon Graviax ($4.90)

James prefer this because they are all egg white, PROTEINS. Health conscious or body builder can always go for this. You can eat all the eggs without having to worry about the cholesterol!

 

 

This is where the Mathematics comes in. Let’s take 50% off the Egg White Scramble with Smoked Salmon Graviax… soooo, only $2.45? YUP! Only that. Japanese Skincare – SANA sheet masks

I was recently introduced to a new brand in my list. When the parcel reached me, I have colleagues telling me “Hey, this is one of the most famous brand in Japan!”

This famous brand is none other than SANA – https://www.facebook.com/Sana.Singapore. I have tried it for 2 weeks and I am loving how easy and instant the effect is. It keeps my skin moisturized and supple. Take a look at the picture below for evidence:

 

My most most most favourite product from them is their SANA NAMERAKAHONPO instant sheet mask!

Food Hunt @ Pomo

Recently, James and I went to Pomo for some food tasting. Of course, we were very curious about the Famous Nookie Yogurt. This has been trending in Instagram among the bloggers for quite sometime already. I had wanted to try it long ago but I was too busy, hence the delay.

It was gooooood! James hate fruits so this is really one good way to make him eat his fruits. Some people complained the yogurt for being too sour but seriously, I am the sort who can’t even take the sourness from strawberries but I can take this. If I were to rate the sourness, it would be 1 out of 5.

A lot of people prefers Apple Berry Pie (that’s James’s favourite as well) but I personally liked Strawberry Watermelon Rose more because the crunchiness of the watermelon blends in with the yogurt well. Something special about the yogurt is that some of the flavors come with gastronomy spheres! Just chew them and it will burst in your mouth!! I am truly amazed!

I also love their new flavors like Mango Sticky Rice and Matcha Black Sesame Crumble. Find little mochi inside, they act like the rice from Sticky Mango Rice!

 

 

 

Each cup cost about $6.90. I would say it is worth every penny!

For the inside…..

 

We were treated to Montana Brew Bar. They have very nice waffles. Of course, you don’t only find waffles there but also burgers, sandwiches, salads and good coffee. It was already dinner time so we had our fruit juices instead of coffee or tea.

 

 

We tried Southern Fried Chicken Waffle Sandwich with wasabi slaw ($9.50). Yup, pocket friendly prices there. Even though it is pocket friendly, but look at the amount of meat they gave. It is not compromised! The chicken literally melted in my mouth or was I too hungry I don’t know.

 

 

My favourite was the Truffle Mac & Cheese with Bacon Power ($9.50). Initially I thought that I would be expecting mac & cheese in the middle of the waffle (LOL) but when the waffles came, I couldn’t even  see the mac & cheese. I forgot to take a picture of the waffles because it went straight down into my stomach.  The mac & cheese were found INSIDE the waffle itself so at some bites of it, you would be able to see cheese.

 

Now.. take a look at the spheres on my waffle!! The mango passionfruit spheres made this Green Tea Waffles ($9.50) less bitter (although I quite like the bitterness of the matcha). For desserts, I would suggest you to go for the fluffy soufflé waffles because it would go well with the sinful vanilla ice-cream. The taste of matcha “bread” and ice cream…. How do you even….?

Journey to smoother skin

Sometimes I get very confused with oil seeds and warts. But in any case, we just gotta know that they are irritating and ugly! They make the skin look rough when all we want is smooth skin 🙁

When I visited The Face Aesthetic Clinic, I was like “WAH, Dr. Zhang is DAMN good looking!!!” I couldn’t stop telling James this. LOL. Of course, I was not there to admire him, I was there to tell him the concerns I had with my face. I told him that I wanted the newly developed oil seeds to be removed but he told me the tiny spots were warts and not oil seeds. Then I went “WARTS? I HAVE WARTS ON MY FACE?”

 

 

The tiny dots on my face are warts and warts are EXTREMELY common. How do you tell the differences between a wart and an oil seed? The easiest way is to differentiate the color as warts look slightly brown in color.

 

I even have them on my eyelids. They can spread (omg like cancer cells!) throughout the body but they are harmless although they are caused by viral infection. Go and take a look at your face in the mirror right now. I am pretty certain that 50% of you have warts as well but have never look at them carefully.

 

 

When I thought of the 5 days downtime – no makeup, no skincare, just a mask and some eyeliner – I was quite turned off by the idea. Actually you can makeup when the wounds are dry enough but I would prefer to keep everything clean and neat.

Then I thought, if I can sacrifice the 5 days for a smoother and flatter skin, why not?! I did not take me much time to convince myself. Lol. And so tadahhhh!! I went for the treatment – Electrocautery. It uses heat on the living tissue to achieve hemostasis or varying degrees of tissue destruction. Mine was quite mild so it was done pretty fast.

Numbing cream was applied prior the treatment and then put to rest for 15-20 minutes before the laser. Laser sounds painful but it did not hurt a single bit for me because it was a very very mild laser.

 

 

IT DIDN’T HURT A SINGLE BIT. Numbing cream work wonders yo! The entire “burning” process only took me 10 minutes. You can’t even feel it when Dr. Zhang is done.

 

 

I left the clinic with a facial mask on (as usual) because I had no sunblock on and I wouldn’t step out of anywhere without sunblock. I had facial mask with me for the next 3 days as well.

Although the downtime requires a minimum of 5 days, my skin recovered within 4 days! I don’t know how or why but they started to peel on the 3rd and recovered on the 4th.

Again, I have to repeat this, DO NOT ever visit any beauty parlor to get your mole, oil seeds or warts removed. Not only they are not safe, you DO NOT want scars on your face too.

Once again, confidence boost greatly with the clear skin! More selfies coming your way on my Instagram! :X

 

 

 

I was thinking of removing the annoying mole on my right cheek but everyone already me gave me a firm no when I asked for their opinion 🙁

 

Maybe I’ll go back to Dr. Zhang for some facial enhancement soon! 😀

New Selfie Camera by Casio

What is the first camera or brand that comes to your mind when someone talks about selfie camera?

 

For me, It’s Casio.

 

What brand has the make up mode feature and takes very beautiful selfie photos?

Not sucking up to the brand or praising it out of nowhere but seriously, I am very very much in love with the make up mode! So much that I made James buy my a Casio Camera for my birthday last year. Hehe.

But sometime after I got the camera, I realised that Casio came out with another selfie camera which is not only good-looking but perfect for taking selfie too!!

Casio Exilim EX-MR1!! It is very quirky looking but cuteeee! I was literally jumping for joy when I knew that Casio is giving me one colour of my choice for review.

 

As usual, I couldn’t make up my mind because my favourite colour is white and I am a sucker for white and pastel coloured gadgets. The camera James got me was also in white. But I was so tied between the pink and the white…..

 

I like the baby pink but I like the combination of white and gold.. It was just too hard. Why did Casio put us in such a difficult position by coming out with 3 awesome colours!!

 

Okay, I am really a sucker for white gadgets so I ended up with the white one!! Although my heart wanted both. Lol.

 

The camera is soooo featherlight. It only weighs 133g. It fits in so nicely to any of my tiny sling bag because it is palm-sized too! I don’t like carrying a bigger bag out just to put my heavy duty camera inside.

 

I bring my camera out almost everyday because I tend to take selfie anywhere, so this lightweight, palm-sized, cute camera is quite perfect for me!

 

 

What attracted me other than the design and colours, is the mirror face!!! Sometimes when I have to apply my lipstick on the go or touch up any make up, I will use the camera as a mirror. So convenient! It is a pocket mirror as well as a lightweight camera. This camera is specially created for vain pots like me!!

 

 

Also, do you also know that the camera lens is hidden behind the mirror? So what you see in the mirror is what you will get when you press on the snap button! We always like how we look in the selfie position right? 😀

 

 

You can adjust the settings of the make up mode from a total of 6 complexion shades and 12 different skin mode for different environment like when you are out in the sun or indoors.

 

 

I brought the camera out with me during CNY and snapped soooo many photos on my way to different places for visiting. I think by now you should have already realised that the photos posted in my previous entry was also taken using EX-MR1!! :DD

 

 

I absolutely love how it made my completion look flawless and dolly! I think the camera has the ability to make anyone look like a doll!!

 

 

Being satisfied with the pictures, all I wanted to do was to upload them to Instagram (@maybelinesim). I can transfer the pictures from the camera to the phone without the need of a computer because this tiny camera has in-built wifi!

 

 

Just download the app on your smartphone “EXILIM Link” and pair your camera to the phone by:

 

– Turn on the wireless on your phone and connect it to the camera (make sure your wifi is turned on on the camera as well by pressing the wifi button once).
– Input the password of the camera’s wifi.
– Tap “Connection Starting” on the app.
– Download any picture from the camera to your phone.

 

It was so easy. I need no further editing like adding filters or adjusting the lighting so I uploaded it straight to my Instagram. Surprisingly, one follower even asked if the picture was taken by EX-MR1. So smart!! Hehe. Must be the good complexion and dolly feel the picture gave.

 

In case you thought that you can only take selfie with it, you can OFF the make up mode and take any other photos of the scenery or food or anything else. It just help vain pots to make selfie taking easier!!

Beloved One Skincare

It has always been Korea Korea and Korea when it comes to Skincare. What about Taiwan? Taiwanese have great skin too! One of their top selling brands in Taiwan is For Beloved One. I can see it almost everywhere when I was there last November. *How I want to be back in Taiwan again!!*

To be honest, I have never bought any products from For Beloved One before until I went for a lunch with them in October last year when they gave me some Bio-Cellulose Masks to try! They are the world’s first bio-cellulose masks – not any cotton or paper mask so it would stick to the skin better.

Unlike other masks in the market, each piece of mask is at least 2x heavier than normal masks (which also means that the mask is soaked with an entire bag of goodness!! After using the mask, I use whatever that is leftover on my legs lol.

I was of course sold by then. Only one mask a week and the skin would be well taken care of. Some masks requires you to mask every 3 days. Soooo troublesome!

The differences between the old (2013) and the new range (2014) are the ingredients:

Melaclear2, Technowhite, DermaRXSRC and more. The ingredients can brighten up your skin tone and restore crystal clear skin! I have tried two out of their 5 products on my face and some of it on my hands during the event. They smell a little like citrus and they are so gentle that people for sensitive skin can also use them.

First review: Melasleep Whitening Ethyl Ascorbic Acid Surge Cream ($85)

Although we know that it smells like citrus, I was still surprised to find out that the cream is in a pale yellow color instead of white. I must be too used with white cream products already. Heh.

Apply it twice a day, morning and night after cleansing, toning and essence (if you have this step). It is said to keep the skin hydrated and lighten the skin. I HATE creamy or oily stuffs on my face. So if I dare to use it, it means that it is almost grease-free. The texture is quite watery so sometimes I would skip my makeup base and skip to sunblock after applying this. I have yet to experience lighter skin tone but my skin is definitely brighter and more radiant!

Melasleep Whitening Ethyl Ascorbic Acid Lotion

The lotion is able to slow down pigment formation as it contains gentle whitening agent and MELASLOW which can help lighten skin by reducing melanin production. Apply it 2 times a day to strength your skin’s defense and boost skin health!

Melasleep Whitening Ethyl Ascorbic Acid Essence

I am a very very essence person. I can skip the moisturizer if I have my essence with me because essence are usually watery and cooling for my face. This serum contains higher stable Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, which reverse melanin formation and lighten dark spots. And with the new ingredients in the improved range, skin will become more and more radiant!

Watery texture. Results are best seen on dull skin tone.

ORBIS 4th Outlet Opening

I just came back from ORBIS’s opening at Westgate! Congratulations! This is their 4th outlet :)) Find them at Westgate #02-16. Nearest MRT station would be Jurong East.

I have been a huge fan of their famous cleansing liquid!! If you haven’t already know, ORBIS is a leading Japanese cosmetic company. You can find skincare, make up, health food and beauty supplement in ORBIS.

Something new is their Teatox. It is said to have detoxifying, weight management and antioxidant effect. Even if it isn’t for weight management, you can drink it for some body cleansing effect 🙂

Their skincare line is as thoughtful as the brand sounds! They have Hydration care, Acne care, Special care, Whitening care and more!








Other than their cleansing liquid, I love love love their meal replacement smoothie!! It is so thick and creamy. 2 sachets in a packet for $6.90 or $8.90.

All you have to do is to add in 100ml of cold milk. I drank a full cup of the orange flavored one and I love love love it! I think James might love it too so I bought him 3 boxes of different flavors!

I think it would be good to replace breakfast with this because it is low in calories and healthy. Easy to prepare especially when I am always in a rush in the morning.





I saw new famous in the store too! Chocolate & Almond and Apple & Rose! Chocolate & Almond sounds yummmmmy! Hehe. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope James would love them.
