Journey to smoother skin

Sometimes I get very confused with oil seeds and warts. But in any case, we just gotta know that they are irritating and ugly! They make the skin look rough when all we want is smooth skin 🙁

When I visited The Face Aesthetic Clinic, I was like “WAH, Dr. Zhang is DAMN good looking!!!” I couldn’t stop telling James this. LOL. Of course, I was not there to admire him, I was there to tell him the concerns I had with my face. I told him that I wanted the newly developed oil seeds to be removed but he told me the tiny spots were warts and not oil seeds. Then I went “WARTS? I HAVE WARTS ON MY FACE?”

 

 

The tiny dots on my face are warts and warts are EXTREMELY common. How do you tell the differences between a wart and an oil seed? The easiest way is to differentiate the color as warts look slightly brown in color.

 

I even have them on my eyelids. They can spread (omg like cancer cells!) throughout the body but they are harmless although they are caused by viral infection. Go and take a look at your face in the mirror right now. I am pretty certain that 50% of you have warts as well but have never look at them carefully.

 

 

When I thought of the 5 days downtime – no makeup, no skincare, just a mask and some eyeliner – I was quite turned off by the idea. Actually you can makeup when the wounds are dry enough but I would prefer to keep everything clean and neat.

Then I thought, if I can sacrifice the 5 days for a smoother and flatter skin, why not?! I did not take me much time to convince myself. Lol. And so tadahhhh!! I went for the treatment – Electrocautery. It uses heat on the living tissue to achieve hemostasis or varying degrees of tissue destruction. Mine was quite mild so it was done pretty fast.

Numbing cream was applied prior the treatment and then put to rest for 15-20 minutes before the laser. Laser sounds painful but it did not hurt a single bit for me because it was a very very mild laser.

 

 

IT DIDN’T HURT A SINGLE BIT. Numbing cream work wonders yo! The entire “burning” process only took me 10 minutes. You can’t even feel it when Dr. Zhang is done.

 

 

I left the clinic with a facial mask on (as usual) because I had no sunblock on and I wouldn’t step out of anywhere without sunblock. I had facial mask with me for the next 3 days as well.

Although the downtime requires a minimum of 5 days, my skin recovered within 4 days! I don’t know how or why but they started to peel on the 3rd and recovered on the 4th.

Again, I have to repeat this, DO NOT ever visit any beauty parlor to get your mole, oil seeds or warts removed. Not only they are not safe, you DO NOT want scars on your face too.

I was thinking of removing the annoying mole on my right cheek but everyone already me gave me a firm no when I asked for their opinion 🙁

 

Maybe I’ll go back to Dr. Zhang for some facial enhancement soon! 😀

As you know, I was previously with DRx, whose concept belongs to Dr S K Tan.

Dr Tan was a friendly and humorous guy who graduated as a medical doctor in 197! And this year marks the 43rd year as a Medical Doctor. You can also call him the father of Aesthetics.

He believes in using skincare to improve the skin condition and would avoid any procedures if skincare could achieve the same effect. So you can save your pennies that will be spent on all the expensive procedures if they are not really required!

And the man behind the marketing – Chester! ALL the bloggers love him. He knows how to pamper us like princesses. Really. He booked a limousine cab to fetch us from our places to the clinic.

It felt so good to have him back in the industry!

I like the clinic’s concept. It was all clean, neat and tidy. The warm colour also made it look welcoming.

Even the consultation rooms looked nothing like a clinic. It gave me a cafe feel.

The clinic offers a variety of treatments such as aesthetics enhancement, nonsurgical thread lifts, laser and Thermage. So much that you have to visit them at idsclinic.com!  The facial treatments are also specially designed by Dr Tan using special formulas brought in from around the world.

What’s best is that IDS Clinic has their own range or products. I was flipping through the phamplet and I knew that there are some products that I really have to try. For instance, the C+ which tackles wrinkles, loss of firmness, patchy skin tone, dark spots and even acne, and their Mask which contains probiotics.

As you can see, they carry quite a bit of products to tackle all the different skin problems and the range will be prescribed in the clinic.

Happier and fuller cheeks at Astique

As much as I am happy with my current look, there is no reason not to make it even better.

Aesthetics enhancements not only help one to look better, but also reverse the signs of aging. In my previous consultation with Dr. Matthew Yap, he told me that I would look better with fuller cheeks so I went back to Astique Clinic for cheek fillers!

Let’s go!

The fillers used previously on my chin and nose were none other than Juvederm. For my cheeks this time round, Dr Yap will be using Juvederm as well.

It is said to last longer than other fillers. Dr Matthew told me that the fillers on my nose and chin would last me for at least 6 months to a year!

It contains- Hyaluronic acid, a natural substance which can be found in the human body. And the chances of developing allergy Juvederm is very low as it is not derived from animal tissues.

Do you know that saggy cheeks can cause one to look even older than one’s actual age? What is worst is that lines would start appearing on the cheeks and this is more often than not, more noticeable in women than man.

The cheek lines would start to appear below the eye area first, before leading down to the cheek areas.

The benefits of cheek fillers are that it can instantly lift your cheeks and restore the lost volume. They are useful for restoring the shape of the cheek where the signs of aging often begin.

FYI, injection fillers also stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen!

No one is too young to talk about anti-aging. Cheek fillers are also good for people who have rather flat cheeks.

My 1st experience with Botox and Fillers

I had always wanted a sharper nose and smaller face but never had the guts to do anything about it.

I was very glad to visit Astique for some facial enhancements. All thanks to My Fat Pocket and aesthetics hub! It was like a dream come true for me~~~~

As I was looking into the mirror, I was more determined that I needed a smaller and sharper face. And take a look at the dark circles around my eyes as well. I need to do something about it before it gets worst.

So while waiting for the doctor, I explored the clinic a little. You know, clinics always look like a typical clinic whereby you have the counter, waiting area and rooms. But Astique clinic looks like a little playroom where you get to browse through and try out the different skincare products.


This picture below shows a very clear view of my side profile. I feel that I have a button nose. The peak is a little sharp but the nose bridge just isn’t high enough. And my jaw line, it sure is far away from small and sharp. Lol.

The very young doctor, Mr. Matthew Yap, consulted me and told me what I needed for my face. He was also very friendly and patience towards me. As it was my very first time, I kept emphasizing on the pain score and time and again, he would assure me that it wouldn’t hurt a bit.

He also has very nice complexion himself!

I also wanted to try some fillers to soften the very visible smile lines so that I can look younger as the folds made my face look old and tired. Lesser lines also mean a clearer and cleaner look!

I was also really comfortable with him. He told me all I needed for my nose was a higher nose bridge.

The numbing cream was applied for 10-15 minutes and I was very skeptical of its effect because I really can’t bring myself to believe that a topical cream can actually stop all the pain that would come later.

I was of course, proven wrong. After the numbing effect has set, it was time for the the jaw botox. I am quite petite in size (but not short!) as you can see from my pictures, but I have quite a fat and big face. Who would complain that they have a sharp or small face anyway?!

I can hit 40kg and still have a chubby face. I don’t know why.

The numbing cream effect can last one for hours. It lasted me for nearly 4 hours i think, so there was no need for another application of numbing cream for the injections.

Biting my teeth to estimate the size of the muscle on my jaw before deciding on the amount of botox to inject.

I tend to chew on the left size of my face more, so the muscle on my left was almost twice the size of the muscle on my right! :O And this can result in a bigger face on the left (which was what happened to me). I realized that my left face was much bigger than my right even before the doctor told me that but had absolute no idea that what was the cause.

I could feel nothing when the needle went in. I did not know and refused to believe that I felt nothing at all! To think that I used to have SO MUCH fears for them.

I can only see the results for botox 2 weeks later. So hold on, I will do up another post to show you the huge difference!

And I am very much in love with the side profile of my face!

For fillers, Juvederm was used on me and it was said that the effect would last me between 6 months to a year.

I was really excited to see the final results. A higher nose bridge was always what I wanted.

You see, I could still laugh, so you should be able to guess my pain score.

To be honest, on a scale of 10, I would gladly rate it between 0 to 1. Likewise for the chin filler.

The chin filler was done to give the face a more almond-shaped kind of feel.

Pretty much the same for both fillers – Injection, Clean and Massage.

Do observe the chin in this picture. Cleave gone and the whole face looks sharper. This was exactly what the Doctor wanted to achieve. I really love the prominent chin.

Now, look at the side profile of the nose again. Can you see the higher nose bridge? I look so good in most pictures now! Save me some time on highlighting the nose bridge. Heh.

These procedures have certainly boosted my confidence level and I am really loving how I look now. I can’t wait to hear what Dr. Matthew has for me next!

Celebrity dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi was in Singapore last month and mine, I must say that I am honored to be able to be present to listen to his speech.

Dr. Zein Obagi believes in the future of skincare and has launch his own medical skincare lines ZO Skin Health. They are exclusively available in skin clinics like Prive Clinic, Cosmetic surgery and other skin clinics. You can’t buy it from the pharmacies outside.

He also mentioned that applying too many products to the skin will cause the skin to produce less oil and hence, moisture. I do notice this because my face tends to get oily more easily when I leave house without make up.

I am the type who spam thick makeups on the face, but I still have dehyrated skin. Should I completely stop making up then? 🙁
