Birthday Surprises from J

I must comment that this guy is pretty sweet when it comes to surprises. He actually did not want to reveal where we would be going but because I had to bring some stuffs along, he had no choice but to reveal one of the destinations – Adventure Cove.

He has got very ugly handwriting :X but cute terms.

Before adventure cove, he brought me to Marina Mandarin Aqua Marine of breakfast. As there was a buffet ongoing, we had our breakfast at the Atrium Lounge where we were served by a manager of excellent services and a waitress whose standard was a far cry from the manager. She spoilt my morning by giving us an extremely black face when we were ordering our food and ended with no smile or “thanks”.

Then, our food came. I ordered scramble eggs for my eggs but sunny-side up came and she told me that they are scramble eggs!! Like hellllooo? If you, China Lady, are working in the tourism industry, I would expect you to understand a fair bit of English?!?! She even argued that the orders were right until J demanded her to change. She probably looked down on us because we weren’t in suits and ties as we were going for a swim later (I can’t help feeling this way).

Food on the other hand was good. Golden crispy hash browns, fresh greens and fresh farm eggs cooked in different ways.

J’s favorite Seafood pizza where we brought half of them to the cove with us because we were WAY WAY too full~

A little cake for the birthday me.

My surprise number 2 (which I knew a day earlier as I had to pack all the clothes and bikini).

I thought it was pretty similar to Jurong East Swimming Complex where they have the same Wave Pool, Lazy River and slides (although the slides at JE were smaller).

Until we went to Rainbow Reef where we were allowed to snorkel with all the fishes!! I thought the pool was only going to be 1m-ish deep and were wondering why the need for life jackets until I stepped in.

I couldn’t swim and the pool was very very deep. More than 2m for sure. So I struggle like mad during my first try because I couldn’t maintain myself. LOL. I find it hard to move forward or breath. I drank quite a fair bit of the water and it was super salty!!!!!

When I finally got used to breathing through the mouth, I went for another 2 more rounds with J leading me to move forward (because again, I couldn’t swim). I tired to take pictures but it was either too blur or failed. I think I might consider getting a go pro soon.

We got so tired so we went to try out all the other slides and then back to the “lazy river” again.

A good 4 hour+ was spent at Adventure Cove. Would definitely be back again next time (hopefully with more friends!).

My 3rd present was the sweetest.

Other than the note he wrote, he also printed out our picture and made me look for the missing piece (after answering 3 questions of his). The missing piece comes together with my 4th present (will be revealed later).

The fifth present was a surprise dinner with my friends!

He kept telling me it was a one-to-one dinner only because he wanted some time alone on the special day and no one would be free on a Monday evening either.

My fourth present is still a mystery. It is something I wanted from damn long ago and I am still waiting for it’s arrival (should be arriving few days from now).

2014 is currently one of the best birthdays EVER! Thank you B!

Cutest pie found @ Pie Face!

Do you know where to find all these cute pies? They finally flew in from Australia to Singapore!! I was so freaking sick that day but I still went for the food tasting because I wanna take cute photos with ALL the little faces! And they have more than 80 stores around the world already!

Even the wall looked so cuteeeee.

The first outlet in Singapore is located at 313@somerset #B3-10 Singapore 238895. The second outlet should be opened by today and it is located at Bugis Village – 249 Victoria Street Singapore 188034.

Different face represents a different filling. They have Chunky Steak Pie ($5.20), Chicken & Mushroom Pie ($4.90), Thai Chicken Curry Pie ($4.90), Tandoori Vegetable Pie ($4.90) and moreeeee!

For me, the Chicken & Mushroom Pie is my favorite.

Look at my ruldoph red nose~

And my fat boy with his pies..

The coffee here is seriously underrated!! Trust a coffee lover, when she says it’s good, it’s good!! The coffee start from $4.00 and they are the perfect accompaniment to the pies and a great perk-me-up to start the mornings right.

There is an ongoing special Pie-fect deal right now. Buy any of their coffee and get any mini or sweet pie for free!

Other than the pies, J’s favorite was this cheese sausage roll which was served hot and yummmm… Each bite will lead to another portion of oozing cheese…

I love the chunky chicken bites inside the pie! (This pic was taken after J stole a mouthful of the fillings). The “gravy” is rather thick and cream so it felt like I was drinking some soup from the pie.

Beautifully baked crossiants. It is not that easy to achieve such beautiful layers.

They also have sweet pies at $3.30 each ranging from Butterscotch to Apple Crumble. I like the butterscotch one because the fillings are rather “smooth”!

Other than the pies, Pie Face also carries crumbly cookies, moist cakes and piping hot soups!

I must still emphasize on how good the coffee is. Please try them when you are there!!

High tea with Mariette

Other than baking pineapple tarts during the previous weekend, J and I went for a high tea session with Mariette 2 weeks prior to the baking session.

It was held at MEDZS and we had cakes and tea that afternoon. The cakes are actually frozen cakes. Frozen cake can taste as good as fresh cakes and some can taste even better.

You can decorate the cakes with any toppings with the cakes. Decorate them and serve them prettily to your guest at home!

YES, the cakes in this picture are all the cakes Mariette is currently carrying.

They have 4 different cakes currentl – Molten lava cake, Double chocolate cake, Salted caramel cake and Orange tea cake.

J’s favourite is the double chocolate while mine is the lava cake. Actually, I quite like the orange tea cake too cause it has a very pleasant fragrance.

Keep a box of any of the cake at home and eat it as and when you want it. I want a dozen of molten lava cakes in my freezer because in the past, I can only have it in cafe or restaurants. But now, they make things so much easier! Do you also know that it is the first microwaveable molten lava cake in Singapore?

They are also very easy to prepare. Just microwave on high heat for 15 seconds and TADAHHHH.

As for the rest of the flavours, you do not even have to heat it. Just thaw it and eat it chilled. Yummy yum yum.

The cakes give busy Singaporeans a convenient and affordable teatime indulgence. Eat them at your own time and own pace.

You can find them at selected Cold Storage, FairPrice stores and Giant supermarkets at only $7.90 each! SO AFFORDABLE!!

Have a yummy yummy weekend!!

Cafe Hunting with J

Here in this post is Food For Thought. J brought me there for lunch with his sister. This guy took half day off just to accompany me before I fly off to Taiwan for 8 days and because I don’t work on Monday.

We went to Food For Thought. The service was good but the air-con was faulty that day so it was kinda humid even though we had the outdoor seat. It was still quite empty during lunch hours, I guess not much people working in the central can fork out 2 hours for a slow lunch at a cafe.

Food wise….

The serving of the breakfast was huge, making it value for money. This big plate of full breakfast cost less than $20 (I can’t remember the price). I feel that the scramble eggs were cooked just right. The hash brown balls on the other hand tasted “hollow” and soggy. It wasn’t crispy at all. But I guess, for that amount that you are paying for, we should expect too high a standard.

The pork burger was good although the serving wasn’t as huge as the full breakfast. The pork tasted like duck to me though. J told me that they are famous for their pork burger too.

As for my pasta… Mmmmm, the linguine was too soft. You can’t really taste the chewiness of the linguine and in my opinion, they were too salty. Portion size was reasonable and prawns were rather juicy though. I would not order this again when I dine there the next time.

After the lunch, we went over to my cousin’s place to visit the baby boy! This cutie is already 6 months old but it was only my second time seeing him. He has little “muscles” all over him!! So cute!! He is so round and cuddly! It’s like, if you leave him on the sofa, he might risk rolling around and fall or something. So chubby so cuteeee!

And James couldn’t stop laughing when he saw this photo. 被宝宝翻白眼!!

Till the next entry! 🙂

Taipei Day 3

Day 3 was pretty boring (since we covered most of the famous shopping areas).

Day 3: Long Shan Temple, Xi Men Ding, Hotel (rest for 2 hours), Shi Da Night Market and then back to Shilin Night Market.

Outfit of the day.

I was very very hungry cause I skipped the hotel’s breakfast so I grabbed a Pudding Bread nearby first. They have interesting and nice bakeries!

We went to visit the famous Long Shan Temple and had lunch at that little village place. Ordered 2 You Tiao and my god, they were as hard as potato chips. The temple was crowded and the people at the village were quite old but friendly. Everyone was crowding around this little pom who was very very active and playful!!

The interior was amazing. The waterfall look kinda natural.

After we left the temple, I had to grab a cup of bubble tea. I drank bubble tea EVERY single day. And because I couldn’t read chinese, I could only order “Zhen Zhu Nai Cha” every time ~.~

Back to Xi Men Ding for lunch! This building is called the Red House – the police station.

We went into a Japanese restaurant for ramen! Yums. I realised that none of the restaurant serves runny ramen egg 🙁 Anyway, my ramen only cost $6.

My brother’s bento set which cost less than $8.

Headed to the departmental store to buy some Porter back as well! Birthday presents from the Dad. Got 2 bags. Hehehehe. (But I bought more Porter again later on…. on Day 5).

Buildings at Xi Men Ding… They reminds me of Seoul. The shops in myeongdong looks like Xi Men Ding and Wu Fen Pu reminds me of Dongdaemun. The places sell quite similar stuffs but it is much more expensive in Seoul!! At least 3-4 times more!! You can only get beauty products in Seoul (in my opinion).

After 2 hours of rest, we cabbed over to Shi Da Night Market and we were still very early (4pm). Please reach only after 6pm if you are intend to head over to any night market. I thought stalls would start to open at 4pm but I was wrong. The entire place was still very very very quiet. We grabbed some street food and sat at some cafe to chill while waiting. Only managed to grab very minimal clothes (3 pieces) there so I suggested to head back to Shilin Night Market for proper dinner and shopping!

This cap was bought in Shilin too! For $5 I think.

It seems like everywhere in Taipei sells very juicy fruits! We had fruits almost everyday (which we don’t in Singapore).

Stay tuned for Taichung!

Video Shoot with Lee Cooper

Did a shoot with Lee Cooper for a social media video about a week ago and I got to keep the clothes that I picked. Yay. Can’t wait for the video to be out too.

I was so tied between the denim jacket or the soft jacket.

Yup, my ultimate choice was the soft jacket because it is much lighter and practical. But I must say that I love the denim look too!! Loving the mint coloured sneakers as well. I wish I could have it red and mint. One side of each. Lol!

You guys know that I am still overseas and Singtel Easy Mobile Plan allows me to track my phone bills easily with email reminders! Wahhh, I seriously love how earth friendly it is as well by being paperless.

Thank you Lee Cooper and Singtel! 🙂

Taipei Day 1

We took the 8.30am flight and reached Taoyuan Airport at 1.15pm. By the time we retrieve the luggage and all, it was almost 2pm. Cabbed from the airport to our hotel at Xi Men Ding straight. I have no idea why, when people told me that the cab fare in Taipei is much cheaper, I thought it would cost about 20-30% lesser but hell no. Our cab fare from the airport was SGD50. The distance is like our Jurong to Changi Airport (slightly further up). It would only cost SGD25-30 for that distance in Singapore though.

After checking in the hotel, we roamed around Xi Men Ding for lunch. Settled comfortably in a Japanese Restaurant. Each bowl of ramen only cost about $6. The portion is slightly smaller than what was served in Singapore.

And not wanting to waste any time, we took the metro (MRT) down from Xi Men Station to Hou Shan Pi Station where you can find Wu Fen Pu wholesale market.

The MRT fare is fairly cheap. SGD0.80 for a ride. And single ride journey tickets are in the form of a token. So cute!!

Wu Fen Pu is one hell of a good shopping place! It is so huge that it took me 3 hours to comb the entire place twice. I spent $200 on clothes for me and J within that 3 hours. My brother managed to grab quite a bit of male clothing too.

What to buy in Wu Fen Pu: Mostly clothes. Shoes are not exactly cheap here. You can get it cheaper at other parts of Taipei.

Station: Blue Line – Hou Shan Pi

After 3 hours of shopping, it was already 7pm so we walked over to Rao He Night Market. There is no direct station (Hou Shan Pi is one of the nearest) here so I would suggest you to cab there or walk over from Wu Fen Pu after shopping.

Rao He Night market has very good street food!! They do sell clothes, shoes and accessories but I would prefer the clothes at Wu Fen Pu instead. You can find cheap female shoes at NT200 (SGD8-9) where my mom and I got 2 pairs each. Male shoes are cheaper here. My brother got 2 pairs of loafers at NT500 (SGD22) each. Male loafers usually cost about SGD40-50 even in our Bugis Village.

My dad had Stinky Tofu there, although he insisted that it was good, I wanted to vomit at the smell of it. EWWWWW!

After all the street food and little shopping done at Rao He, we cabbed back to Xi Men Ding for more.

Xi Men Ding is very lively at night! I also realised from the Superdry Store in XMD, the stuffs here cost more than Singapore! A tee here cost about SGD90 when we could get it in Singapore for SGD70.

I love the people in Taiwan because they are dog lovers!!! You can see them everywhere!! Oh ya, pet clothing are cheap in Wu Fen Pu too!

Loot for first day.

BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme by Hugo Boss

Know what? I think I just found my favorite scent of the year. Even the boyfriend loves it on me. I am a very fussy person when it comes to scent because it is something I use almost everyday. I never liked anything too musky or overpowering.

When I first heard about BOSS MA VIE, the new fragrance for women from BOSS Parfums, I thought that it is going to be quite musky because BOSS can be quite manly. But then again, I gotta admit that I am quite a sucker for designs and I love how exactly the bottle look, I feel like…… I really want to own one. I like the delicate mellow pink and the sleek design.

Following the successful launch of BOSS NUIT Pour Femme and BOSS JOUR Pour Femme, now, BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme completes the trio. ALL of them look so elegant and classy.

The new fragrance was inspired by an element of the BOSS woman’s life that until now has gone unnoticed. It draws on the pleasure she feels when she chooses to step out of her day to day routine, slow down, loosen up and simply enjoy a moment for herself. It captures the intimate essence of her independent spirit, releasing the indulgent and fulfilling sensation of simply savoring life.

Yeap, so on days where I have no work, or after working hours, BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme allows me to be who I am comfortably and still smelling nice even after a long day of work. It somewhat boosts my confidence too.

Other than counting on the design of the bottle for modern femininity, the top note – Cactus Blossom accord capture the green freshness of the uncompromising desert plant, providing a unique and modern element to the fragrance.

The heart – Pink Floral Bouquet with Rose Bud unifies the key florals of BOSS NUIT Pour Femme and BOSS JOUR Pour Femme, with a tender and soft pink feminine twist. Suave pink freesia and jasmine petals were blended with delicate rose bud, creating a natural floralcy.

The base – Cedarwood – The intense warmth of sheer woods and cedar wood form is known to encourage an attitude of confidence and ease which inspires the BOSS woman to take a moment to herself.

Such femininity, confidence and modernity is simply irresistible.

Go on… You know you need it too 🙂

Back at Black Hair Salon

Black Hair Salon has a new outlook and I am totally digging the new look of the salon!!! Other than the look, the entire salon stays the same. The friendly family (staffs), boss and services!! It is just so hard to find a salon that I really really love and would go back again and again.

The full length mirror is an ideal mirror for any selfie before/after any hair services! Hehe.

Because the birthday month is in Nov, so I wanna pamper the hair by not doing any damage to it. Anthony recommended me to do a scalp treatment to cleanse the scalp thoroughly.

Other than cleansing the scalp, the treatment can also reduce hair loss. It is important to take care of the scalp as well. It is as important as your hair!! The treatment was quite minty and cooling. I like minty stuffs on the head like shampoo and conditioner.

This bowl of powder is GOOD stuff!! It is imported!

Other than the scalp treatment, I also trimmed off 4cm of my hair~ I really wanted short hair but J doesn’t like girls with short hair (Irony!! LOL).

Scalp feels cleaner and lesser strands of hair were seen on the comb for the next few days!
It is recommended to do the treatment once a month at the start. I am so going to do this again next month!! (Along with a roots colour touch up).

Thank you Black Hair Salon for taking so good care of my hair!!

They are having a promotion for the month of November.
1st service = 10% off.
2nd services and above = 20% off

Promotion period: 1st Nov – 30th Nov

They are located at:
The Bencoolen 180 Bencoolen street, #01-28

#BreakFree with Braun Beauty

What do you know about Braun? For me, it’s shavers and more shavers, man and more men. Finally…. they are launching more female products! I was there at Capella Hotel to witness it myself yesterday afternoon.

I thought that I was going to be all alone but I randomly asked Cheryl if she was going and hey, we were both alone! We had no idea what was going to be launched so it was all kept as a surprise.

There were actually 3 launches – Braun Face, Braun Satin Hair 7 and Braun Stain Hair 1.

I was particularly interested with Braun Face because it is the world’s first facial epilator and cleansing brush (2 in 1). It was said to be able to deliver pore-deep cleansing as well as high precision facial epilation for pure, radiant beauty. Facial hair might not be a problem for Asian ladies as we do not have much facial hair, but there are still fine hair on the face – especially between the brows and above the upper lips.

Threading is painful and waxing is a chore because it can get messy and dirty.

The Braun Face has a slim epilator head that removes almost invisible hairs and delivers precision on the eyebrows, upper lip and chin as it has 10 micro-openings. It is also 200 times faster than manual tweezers and can remove hairs four times shorter than traditional waxing. Despite being efficient, it is also gentle to the skin.

I was still joking about shaping the brows with this.

With a simple swap of heads, you can turn it into a cleansing brush. Doctors also recommended that cleansing the face with a brush is also much more effective than manual cleansing as they are able to reach in to the clogged pores. For all you know, your face might be congested with make up, dust, dirt and oil after an entire day.

I like the chic and handy design as I can bring it around for staycations or travels. Before I forget, it is waterproof too!

This multi-functional beauty tool is only retailing at $99. Looking naturally flawless has never been this easy.

“Women want to have the confidence and styling tools to achieve salon-professional hair in their own home” – Jessica Alba, Braun Beauty Ambassador.

Yup, so Braun is now bringing them into your house. Not only that, they have also come up with a Style & Go hair range. The hair dryer is foldable so it makes it convenient to carry it around for travels, ensuring that your hair looks freshly styled all day.

SensoDryer has a built-in Thermo Sensor that measures temperature 600 times a minute and the dryer immediately turns it up to optimal level, giving you glossy and healthy-looking hair every time. It has a powerful air blow but I think the selling point of the hair dryer is that it can blow out powerful cold air to keep the hair style locked!

So here’s Braun for you. Remember to check them out in stores! 🙂
