Christmas Log Cake & Menu at MEDZS

Yes! J am back again! Maybeline’s partner in crime especially when it come to gourmet food tasting experiences. Likewise for this time around, we went back to MEDZS. However, this time it is not just for their usual authetic Mediterranean dishes but also their long-awaited Christmas menu since the ‘jingling’ festive is around the corner! Cant help but share the main highlight for this dinner first: the Log Cake! After seeing it, i think it truly deserves the award for the Prettiest log cake of the year:

MEDZS Rainbow Log Cake (1.2kg) @ an affordable price of $46.90. It doesn’t just look good, it tasted good as well . Imagine the fushion of various flavaoured cream (eg cream cheese, orange cream etc) between the layer of different coloured sponges. It’s no wonder it’s voted the BEST Rainbow cake by 8 days!

Not to put all the limelight on therainbow cake, there are other wonderful dishes in the christmas menu as well. The award for most inovative dish has to go to this one: the Oven Roasted Roulade with Provencal herbs and confit garlic.

Thoroughly enjoyed the taste of their Medzs recipe nuts filling at the centre of the meat layer. So much so M & I called for one more serving of it despite our filled-to-the-brim stomach end of this dinner.

Another pork dish worth mentioning: the tender and juicy Oven roasted Crispy pork knuckle in gourmet marinade with Bratwurst

Enough of the pork. How can christmas ever go without the most highly raved Turkey! Indeed, Medz also came up with their very own special turkey dish: the Mediterranean Spice infused Whole turkey with Foie Gras and chestnut stuffing! i think this is the MUST TRY out of the whole christmas menu or rather the epitome of christmas dish due to its very unique taste. This is espeically so when you have the inovative combination between the flavourful foie gras, crunchy sweet chestnut and moist turkey meat!

We had some wonderful desserts to end off our pre-christmas food tasting at MEDZ. Though less striking as compared to the rainbow cake, they do have their own array of visual and palatable pleasure.

One noteworthy dessert is The Black Beauty of MEDZ logcake.

Belgian Dark Callebaut Log Cake. Made with 100% Belgium dark chocolate for those dark choc fans like me! Comes in 1.2kg at afforable price of $43.90! Definitely more than enough and good for office sharing or christmas gathering!

Not forgetting their Chocolate Pralines which comes in boxes of 5. Perfect gifts for anyone who matters greatly to you just like M to me! Well, unfortunately she isnt a great fan of pralines. Therefore, i shall just save them for myself! >< while saving the holidays for her *literally* speaking of which we just came back from our first trip tog to Melaka!

Last but not least, we both agree that we could not just end the whole food tasting experience without our favourite snack at MEDZ which is their Truffle fries. It came in such a generous portion we had to share it with our other blogger friends who sat with us at the same table!

Its my first food tasting for MEDZ chrstimas menu but definitely not the last especially after the wonderful experience i had this time around. Look forward to be back for more soon! 🙂

Cutest pie found @ Pie Face!

Do you know where to find all these cute pies? They finally flew in from Australia to Singapore!! I was so freaking sick that day but I still went for the food tasting because I wanna take cute photos with ALL the little faces! And they have more than 80 stores around the world already!

Even the wall looked so cuteeeee.

The first outlet in Singapore is located at 313@somerset #B3-10 Singapore 238895. The second outlet should be opened by today and it is located at Bugis Village – 249 Victoria Street Singapore 188034.

Different face represents a different filling. They have Chunky Steak Pie ($5.20), Chicken & Mushroom Pie ($4.90), Thai Chicken Curry Pie ($4.90), Tandoori Vegetable Pie ($4.90) and moreeeee!

For me, the Chicken & Mushroom Pie is my favorite.

Look at my ruldoph red nose~

And my fat boy with his pies..

The coffee here is seriously underrated!! Trust a coffee lover, when she says it’s good, it’s good!! The coffee start from $4.00 and they are the perfect accompaniment to the pies and a great perk-me-up to start the mornings right.

There is an ongoing special Pie-fect deal right now. Buy any of their coffee and get any mini or sweet pie for free!

Other than the pies, J’s favorite was this cheese sausage roll which was served hot and yummmm… Each bite will lead to another portion of oozing cheese…

I love the chunky chicken bites inside the pie! (This pic was taken after J stole a mouthful of the fillings). The “gravy” is rather thick and cream so it felt like I was drinking some soup from the pie.

Beautifully baked crossiants. It is not that easy to achieve such beautiful layers.

They also have sweet pies at $3.30 each ranging from Butterscotch to Apple Crumble. I like the butterscotch one because the fillings are rather “smooth”!

Other than the pies, Pie Face also carries crumbly cookies, moist cakes and piping hot soups!

I must still emphasize on how good the coffee is. Please try them when you are there!!

Saboten at 313 Somerset

Yayyy. I always visit IMM for Saboten but now I can have it at 313 Somerset too!! Most events are held in town so it would be a good place for an after-event catch up with blogger friends!

J and me dined at Saboten before we got together. Heh.

Like the other outlets (other than IMM), you can have free flow of greens.

I also love their specially imported rice from Japan.

Let me show you what they have on their menu (part of it) before showing you the promotions!

To celebrate the new opening, you will be able to find Iberico Loin Katsu, Fried Jumbo Prawn and few grilled items.

Grilled Chicken Set at $18.

Grilled Salmon Set at $21.

HungryGoWhere voted Saboten as Singapore’s best tonkatsu restaurant and then, Saboten has become the go-to place for all aficionados since it’s launched.

The Fried Jumbo Prawn is EXTREMELY fresh! J had 3 prawns for dinner along with the sides!

The king of shrimp is enveloped in a crispy exterior that is crunchy to the last bite.

Iberico Loin Katsu is delightfully unctuous and tender.

Not forgetting my favorite Chawanmushi which I had 4 cups that evening. Silky smooth is probably the best phrase for it!

All set menus come with side dishes: free refills of the light and fluffy Japanese rice, miso soup, cabbage, chawanmushi, pickles and refreshing Yuzu sorbet!

The new outlet excuses an inviting vibe yet peaceful enough for you to enjoy your meal.

They are located at Saboten 313@Somerset #B2-02/03 Singapore 238895 from 11.30am to 10pm daily.

Second Tim Ho Wan Outlet in Sg

If you have yet to try Tim Ho Wan because of it’s long queue, fret not, another outlet is here!

The second outlet at Toa Payoh is already opened since 8 Sept this year with new dishes launched!

And if you had already tried Tim Ho Wan previously, there is also another reason for you to join the queue again!

Also, Tim Ho Wan is also one of the most affordable Dim Sum restaurants you can ever find in Singapore! I can assure you that your bill will never have to explode!

Chef Mak Lwai Pui has added 6 new dishes to the menu and the monthly specials/line-up will change every few months. This means new surprises await patrons.

And the new dishes will only be exclusively available at the Toa Payoh outlet.

Steam Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce ($5.00)

Fried Noodle with BBQ Pork and Soy Sauce ($6.00)

Wasabi Salad Prawn Dumpling ($5.00) – I LOVE THIS!!

Steam Spiach Dumpling with Shrimp ($3.80)

Baked Bun with BBQ Pork ($4.50)

I don’t fancy or eat pork. This is probably one of the nicest pork I have ever tried!

Prawn Dumpling ($5.50) – MY FAVOURITE SIDE IN TIM HO WAN!

Each dumpling has a few juicy prawns inside. Damn. IT. IS. A. MUST. TRY!!!!

Congee with lean pork, century egg and salted egg (4.20)

As mentioned above, I do not really take pork and this congee has a very strong pork taste, hence, I couldn’t take it.

However, I am sure people who take pork will love this because it has chunky pieces of pork and eggs in it. And the congee is really even out.

Yes, they have desserts too.

If you think it’s too far for you, the third outlet will be opened at Bedok Mall while the fourth outlet will be at the western part of Singapore.

Yay! North South East West!

Location:
ERA Centre, 450 Toa Payoh Lorong 6 #02-02 Singapore 319394

Opening hours:
11am – 10pm

Bershka new outlet at VIVO City

Bershka, the spanish brand is definitely no stranger to us and Bershka opens a new retail store at Vivocity!

Thew new retail store at Vivocity mall will feature 3 main collections from their Spring/Summer campaign, YOLO – You only live once. The collections include “Fresh Season” and “Urban Innocence” for ladies as well as a completely new ranger under Bershka men.

The Bershka brand attracts the younger male and female demographic and flaunts ready to wear apparel enthused by folk inspiration and geometric cuts.

I love the men’s section more than the girls! I always feel that I am a man in my previous life.

I wanted to get that mint bag because the colour is tooo damn sweet!

This jacket is also from their latest collection and is available in 4 different colours.

If I didn’t remember wrongly, these skinnies were only at $39.90 each. Too cheap!!

A deal not to be missed.

This comics shorts is kinda cute too. POW**
So chic!!

My all time favourite. Floral prints.

Love at first sight was this outwear on the mannequin.

Take a closer look at the prints. It’s summery and colourful with not-so-bold-colours used.

This outer wear is extremely lightweight. I think it weighs about the same as a basic tee.

The new Bershka store is located at Level 1, #0158/60/63 and is open daily from 10am till 10pm.
