My Countdown 2014 @ Sentosa

Where did you countdown last Dec 2014? How was it?

For me and James, it was pretty quiet until 9pm as we had dinner with his family for his birthday dinner prior to partyinggggg!

We wanted to party with the rest of the 15,000 party goers who were there to welcome the new year at Asia’s largest beach party. There were more than 20 international and local DJs (Zurich-raised DJ Mike Candys, DJ Shy, DJ Tinc and more) who took the decks across five party zones for 12 hours straight. It was a 6pm to 6am party.

OUR FAVOURITE AREA WAS THE FOAM PARTY where everyone had to just get DIRTY!! There were a lot of people from different countries and races partying and throwing foam at each other!! Everyone looked so happy that night.

Because James drove, so we were pretty restricted. No foam on me!!

The boy couldn’t resist. He just had to get into the “pool” of foam.

I also liked the big stage and love VDJ Funky T!!! His music made all of us grooved like crazy! People couldn’t stop dancing or singing to the songs. I got a little high too (even though I did not drink) LOL.

The same for James. He was dancing away happily……

Cheeky boy is happy.

Happy boy is cheeky.

We moved from the stage to the foam party and back to the stage again. To and fro and to and fro.

We waited till 12mn for the countdown and fireworks! WOOHOOOO. It was spectacular!! I wished I had it recorded.

Siloso Beach Party closed the colorful chapter of 2014 and began a new journey into 2015 with the best company and party setting that its participants could ask for.

I am so going back on 31 Dec 2015 with a big group of friends this time round!!

Black Hair Salon

Let me post more selfie because I can’t take it when Black Hair Salon gives me such good hair days and with lightings like those in the salon, HOW TO NOT TAKE MORE SELFIE?!?!

And suddenly, I have very clear skin and healthy looking hair in ALL the pictures!!

I feel like keeping Anthony (my hairstylist) in my pocket and take him out of my pocket when I need him to style/take care of my hair.

As usual, I was there with my good buddy William again~ We can spend hours and hours in the salon so it is always good to have a company. Heh. Coincidentally, we met Hellven there and we had the best 3-4hours in the salon chatting and laughing away while getting the hair pampered.

And because I wanted to avoid the crowd, I went to get myself prepared for the upcoming CNY and Valentine’s (I know I am quite kiasu LOL).

For this visit, I wanted to do a Scalp Treatment and Hair Cut but Anthony suggested more because the hair was dry. He know what’s best for me. So all in all, I did:

– Darken the hair
– Scalp Treatment
– Hair Treatment

Although I dye my hair almost every 1-2 months to refresh the color or touch up on the roots, my hair was never once as dry as I thought it would be.

The same for this my buddy!! He colors his hair every month but their hair still looks so healthy. WHY?! What magic did Black Hair Salon use?!

Happpppppy us! Thank you for giving us good hair days!

Couldn’t resist but to pose a little since the hair looks good and we had a little extra time before meeting James for dinner.

PSSSST: Black Hair Salon has NO surcharge for CNY!!! Hurry up! Book your appointment with them sooon!

Reflections on 2014

ZZOOOOOOM. 2014 is over and here comes 2015.

To be honest, I haven’t really achieve much in 2014 and I am pretty ashamed of it.

Graduated, got a job, still in the job, has a blog, still blogging, and still working, still blogging, and still working. Making no progress, no significant changes, no results shown. I am the pretty Kiasu kind of person so I would want to strive and make some positive changes in my life. I don’t know what exactly happened to me in 2014. I need to find myself back.

The only difference in 2014 and 2013 is I am finally attached again. Life was pretty boring till I got together with J where I was more active in attending events after that. He seems to enjoy the events and it also made the relationship more interesting because we ran for The Color Run and Zombie Run, baked together, tried out new skincare products together as well.

Have you also noticed? This guy is starting to write reviews too! So cute. I called him the Male Writer (Homme) for my blog with me being the Female Writer (Femme). Since I have been receiving some male products and we did collaborations together for Wisma Atria, so why not? Someone is finally sharing my workload!! Hehehe. It is not easy to find male beauty blogger in Singapore okay. So guys, other than reading reviews on beauty products done by girls, you can finally read from the male perspective here now!

Expect nicer photos on our Instagram (@maybelinesim and @james_awyong) because this guy here is seriously good at taking OOTD photos now (after constantly naggings of how lousy his skills were in the past :X)

We just celebrated his birthday last week. Think you guys would be interested in his birthday celebration right?

Stay tuned for it! :DDDD

Resolutions for 2015? Nothing much.

– Be a better person
– Stop procrastinating and continue with my motto “Never stop climbing in life”

Adios!

Signing off,
Maybeline

2 gate crashes in a month

So… for the weddings..

2 consecutive weekends on gate crash is seriously no joke when you have to work during the weekdays.. I work from Tuesday to Saturday so I had to take off for the two gate crashes.

First crash: Close blogger friend Xinyi
Second crash: Best friend (almost like my sister from another family)

I had to wake up at 5.20am on the two Saturday to prepare because I live in the west and both of them live in the East/North East and I had to reach at 7am. It was….. super tiring!! There were moments where I had to zone out because I was too tired. Both crashes were equally fun!

Here is a little tip for the bride to make things easier for the sisters:
– Prepare breakfast for the sisters so that they save some time in the morning

Thank god there was food before the crash. It saved me 30 minutes!

As you know, the morning ceremony takes quite a while and the whole thing would only end around 1pm.

7am to 1pm = 6 hours.

And the brothers and sisters would have to report to the venue of the wedding dinner at around 5-6pm (this also meant that we would only get 4-5hours of rest time in between. And if you minus the traveling time, we are only left with 3 hours of rest).

TELL MEEEEE. How on earth did I survive? Actually I died. I was super super tired. 1 week has already past and I am still feeling exhausted from everything. I am also experiencing a minor breakout from the lack of sleep T_T

Although I kept complaining that I am tired, I must say that the time lost on sleep was quite well spent. When someone invites you to be part of their big day, you know you are just not that someone.

And for now….. enjoy the pictures taken on the 2 days 🙂

Marc Anthony New Launches

I love workshops because I can get to learn and pick up different tips from the various workshops. Last week, James and I attended Marc Anthony’s workshop and picked up different tips for ourselves as the Hair Stylist gave us tips for both the men and the women individually.

Some background information about the brand. Marc Anthony came from the celebrity hair stylist – Marc Anthony who is the owner of Marc Anthony Salons. He also created Marc Anthony True Professional line of products and they are sold in 30,000 stores worldwide.

In Singapore, you can find them in Watsons.

Marc Anthony has a huge range of products suitable for dry, frizzy, thin, straight or permed hair. I believe the brand needs no further introduction as it is already well known, right?!

So let me just share with you what’s new for you! Are you able to identify the 4 new products in the picture below?

Yeap!

They are:

– Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray, 300ml $19.90/ 53ml – $6.90

The hairspray is currently James’s favorite. He had been looking for a suitable hairspray that holds well and while holding, the spray wouldn’t cause any damage to the hair like drying the hair after wash.

His personal take on the hairspray is that it holds REALLY well and his hair looks shiner and healthier even after the spray. You know how some hair sprays make your hair look dry and stiff right?

– Oil of Morocco Argan Oil 3X Volume Cream, 175ml $18.90

As for me, after I got the products, I have been diligently using the Volume Cream EVERYDAY after I bath even if it is 6am in the morning cause I have very thin and frizzy hair. The cream is heavy enough to keep my hair straight and transform my thin and lifeless hair to thicker and fuller looking hair as it is formulated with Argan oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Keratin to create volume.

I apply it onto my wet hair and blow dry the hair later. It leaves my hair smooth!

– Oil of Morocco Argan Oil 3 Day Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Cream, 200ml $18.90

The Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Cream holds hair straight. Your hair can stay frizz free and shiny for up to 3 days or until your next wash. Amazing! It has anti-frizz lock technology so it leaves the hair straight while the Keratin penetrates to strengthen the hair.

– Strictly Curls Curl Envy 24-Hour Moisture Treatment, 135ml $18.90

Strictly Curls Curl Envy is good for me when I curl my hair! You guys know I curl my hair pretty often because I like permed hair (but I don’t do permanent perms because straight hair is much easier to manage). Sometimes when you curl the hair too much, the ends will look dry and stiff. This moisture treatment is formulated with hydrolyzed wheat, soy and dat proteins so it can restore strength and improve manageability. More importantly, it fights breakage and spilt ends. You can stop worrying about hair breakage with this.

Have you already realized how much Marc Anthony love cream based products? The stylist from the workshop also told us he would pick cream based products than oil based.

Also, when you brush the cream through your hair, the space in-between your fingers are the one that touches the hair most, so remember to spread the products in-between your fingers as well.

I love bringing James because he can take nice pictures for me or pictures of behind-the-scenes as I don’t even know he was busy capturing them. He has also started reviewing some products on his end! Stay tuned!

Can you see how smooth and frizz free looking the hair is after the application of the Volume Cream?

Shopping at Wisma Atria

Every year, be it Chinese New Year or Christmas, I would visit Orchard Road even more frequently than the normal days to soak myself into the festival mood as the entire stretch or road would be decorated with beautiful decorations and all. People also looked happier and chattier there.

This year, James and me decided to buy ourselves a similar backpack because I had enough of him and his ugly bags :X

My first thought was Porter International!!! Wisma Atria has one outlet there!! As you know, I just came back from Taiwan, and after seeing all the bags there, I got myself 4 items from the shop so I knew it was the right place to get us the backpacks.

On top of that, Wisma Atria is also having some contest right now where we will get a chance to fly to  a destination of our choice. So why not shop there for some presents with the hopes of flying to Paris – our dream country?!?!?!

When we entered the mall, we were greeted by the lovely scents of the candles from Yankee Candle as there was a little cottage at the atrium 🙂

We stopped by a little for a sniff before heading up to Porter International at Level 3 (for me) and James to Plinio Visona at Level 1!

The little accessories from Porter Internation like coin pouches, wallets and bracelets caught my attention too (even before checking out the bags)!

I got myself this from the MORI series Backpack. It was a love at first sight because I fell in love with the combination of Maroon and Gold. As for James…. I picked the Black and gold one for him!

I am pretty sure that he would love this bag because it has a contrast of colors and he love contrast. With that said, this bag is very spacious and looks versatile for almost any outfit.

There were really other designs that were pretty nice as well..

James did consider this but it wasn’t big enough to fit in a laptop. We thought that it would be very useful for trips though!

Hehehehe. I couldn’t resist. I got this as well 🙂

I liked shoulder bags so this tempted me a little too…

When I was shopping, James sneaked off to another shop to pick me a gift as well. He went to Plinio Visona located on Level 1 where they sell real leather bags. They have really good quality and trendy bags.

You guys know how much we love to cafe hop right? I love Paris Baguette because of their desserts! I heard that Omakase Burger is pretty yummy too. Shall give that a try when we are in town again!

This is only part of the story. If you wanna read the entire story, read it here: http://www.wismaonline.com/?ch=english_happening&pg=english_happenings_hot&ac=AC_81RBUSqI_20141219170946

PSSST: Wisma Atria is quite a nice place for you to do some christmas shopping! 🙂

Alive Museum

It is good when the fun activities are constantly changing according to themes.

One example of it is Alive Museum!! My first visit was in Aug this year (http://maybelinesim.sg/2014/07/30/alive-museum-experience) and I took a truckload of photos inside.

But I am back again 4 months later as they have additional stuffs inside! Come Alive this Christmas with the Penguins of Madagascar! DreamWorks Animation and Alive Museum bring the quirky characters of the animated action comedy film to life, right here in Singapore!

Enter the bubbling lab of Dr. Brine and his tentacled henchmen, skydive or sneak off in a crate with the penguins!

To create a more immersive experience, some of the areas are green screen where characters from the film come alive and pose for photos with visitors. First time in Singapore where you can experience a 4D visual illusionary museum.

– Select the background you want,
– Strike a pose,
– Snap and print.

Buy them at $15 each or $20 for 2 copies (4R-sized with a magnetic frame). Soft copy are also available at $5.

The picture below…….. IS WAY TOO FUNNY. I thought he looked like the monkey on the right. HHAHAHAHA.

Alive Museum is located at Suntec City #03-372 (between Towers 3 and 4) and it will be there until May 2015.

Tickets are priced at $25 for adults and $20 for children age between 3 to 12 year old.

Hop over there for some family fun or something before it is gone!

See you there!

Malacca Trip With J Part 2

Well, $1 is now equivalent to RM2.54 so it made everything so much cheaper when you are there!

Our first purchase there was a pair of Adidas sneakers each. It was a love at first sight for J. I had double thoughts for mine because I have way way way too many pairs of shoes at home. I bet you guys know about me and my love for New Balance right? I don’t even wanna count!

It seems like Adidas is the new brand for me cause I bought a pair of Adidas when I was in Taiwan too! Hehehe.

We wore our Adidas out on our second day. Heh, yup yup, another pair of couple shoe. We bought a pair of New Balance couple shoe last month (if you follow us on Instagram, you would know).

We passed by some old places and couldn’t help but to stop for a few pictures.

Totally loving this Vintage looking Prada logo tee too! Although it was too big for me but I just had to get it anyway.

This lorry is super vintage and cute!! His uncle has a few of them. I wish I could drive one of them.

Stupid boy and his love for Superdry. His friend helped him with a Superdry tee from London which I thought was overpriced ~.~

I had good hair day that day so more pictures of us/me!

The glossiness from Laneige Intense Serum lipstick made my lips look shiny and sweet. So damn love!!

I know I am only halfway through with my post on my Taiwan trip but hey, make do with my Malacca trip first k. Heh.

Happy almost-mid week people!!

Favourite day of the week

I love to blog about my Mondays because I get to pamper myself a lot of Mondays.

Last week was chemical peel and massage with James.

This week, knowing that he will be in his office for the entire day at Bugis, I went to Black Hair Salon to do my hair. I had to touch up the black roots because the entire hair is in a mess already!

– Frizzy hair
– Messy hair
– Black roots

On top of the two issues I had, I wanted another scalp treatment too. It is recommended to do a treatment for the scalp every one to two months. Healthier scalp means healthier hair growth. I wanted short hair too so my ideal length was the neck-shoulder length.

Just to share with you guys, Black Hair Salon has a new look and the re-opening party was held 2 weeks ago!

William, James, Me and Hellven!

Hehe. That James is so cute right? We are almost inseperable so I brought him along for the re-opening too.

So all in all, I did a lot of stuffs on Monday:
1. Hair cut
2. Hair colouring – Brown (as usual)
3. Scalp treatment
4. Temporary curls

I love love love permed hair! But my ends are too dry so I can’t perm them 🙁

I met William there in the evening too!! Yay!

Check out his chic violet hair. It was darker in reality.

He did hair treatment as well. We are so truly blessed to have someone who cares about our hair more than us 🙂

Go slim with SkinnyMint

Maintaining a slim figure doesn’t always mean working out for hours or cutting down on good food.

For me, I don’t want to lose weight or look extremely toned. I just want to maintain the slim looking figure. And me, being lazy, don’t really enjoy working out. I would always pick the easier way out like drinking detox or cutting down on food high in fat.

Of course,  I don’t drink everything that says it’s good for slimming. I am quite paranoid about the ingredients used, and how safe the product is.

SkinnyMint is available in a 14 Day Teatox or a 28 Day Teatox. They are all made from natural ingredients.

Morning Boost consists of – Green Tea, Yerba Mate, Nettle Leaes, Dandelion, Guarana Fruit, Grapefruit Leaves, Strawberry and Pinkapple.

Night Cleanse – Ginger Root, Orange Leaves, Lemongrass, Senna Leaves, Peppermint, Licorice Root, Hawthorn Berries, Psyllium Husk.

The morning boost has antioxidant properties, promotes fat burning, energizing, cleansing and fat reduction while the night cleanse rids constipation, sleep aid, has natural laxative effect and promotes weight loss.

They are so easy to prepare (just like normal tea bags) so you can have it for breakfast or something along that line for busy Singaporeans like us.

I have this bloating issue because I tend to stuff myself a lot and female has slower metabolism rate than guys so SkinnyMint helps me address all the problems we are facing!

Even if it is not for weight management purposes, the tea also increases energy and remove toxins from the body so it has other health benefits as well.

How I felt over the 28 days:
– Tummy area felt less bloated
– Body felt cleaner and healthier
– I felt more energized during the day
– Constipation was cut down

Head over to https://www.skinnymint.com to find out more and look at the results of other people who drank SkinnyMint too!!
