I was first introduced to masking before I put on my make up by the make up artists who did my make up for me during shoots. They told me that masking right before the make up would help my make up stay longer, and face brighter. But I never knew about the existence of Morning Facial Sheet Mask until I found Saborino.

I was first curious about the mask because of the vibrant packaging – don’t they look fun? I also came across them during my trip to Japan last year.
My initial thoughts about masking in the morning was “Will I have enough time?” or “Do I have to wake up earlier just to mask?” These concerns were addressed right after I googled more.
Saborino Morning Mask is a 3-in-1 face mask from Japan that cleanse, moisturize and prime in 60 seconds. Yes, you heard me right, it works as a morning cleanser too!
It isn’t too hard to wake up 60 seconds earlier just to get rid of your swollen face/eyes yea? You can even put the mask on while you get ready or concentrate on other tasks.
It is like the breakfast for your skin. It comes in a wet-wipes packaging which makes it very convenient for you to bring around, for your staycations or travel. I love the fact that it comes in a plastic lid design instead of the foil sticky pads design, which doesn’t really stick well after a month.
I have been trying out the morning mask recently and I do notice a small shrinkage in my pore size. Not only that, my make up sits nicely on my face and it stays for the entire day without caking. I guess it keeps my face hydrated too.
Other benefits include the tightening and enhancing the elasticity of the skin but my favourite benefit has got to be the reduction of the puffiness of the eye and face in the morning! My eyes tend to get quite puffy when I don’t have enough sleep so this has been a great help so far.
I also love the cooling sensation and minty grapefruit scent which sets my morning fresh and happy.
The mask is suitable for daily use and a packet contains 32 sheets, which can last you slightly more than a month.

GLAMGLOW Mud to Foam Cleansers

I am a fan of GLAMGLOW masks. How about you?
I have yet to try SUPER-MUD Clearing Treatment (white) and Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask (black) though.
Among the 2 that I have tried, POWERMUD Dual Cleanse Treatment (green) and THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment (blue), I prefer the POWERMUD more because it helps to cleanse my face deeply especially after a week of make up and dirts buildup. It’s like, we don’t go for facial weekly do we? So why not use this as a home-care cleanser once a week like what I did?
I also do like THIRSTYMUD because of my dry skin as it boosts the skin hydration level and gives the skin a the dewy look.

These daily cleansers transform mud into foaming lather to exfoliate and cleanse the skin. Although mud can be quite drying to the skin, they are quite gentle.
Like I said, I haven’t tried two of their ranges before, so I was generally more interested in the SUPERCLEANSE Daily Clearing Cleanser (white) and YOUTHCLEANSE Daily Exfoliatng Cleanser (black).
I was sold when I gave the YOUTHCLEANSE a try because the effect was almost instant. Skin looks more radiant and smooth. I like the scent of it because it contains TEAOXI green tea leaf which contains super antioxidants to protect against free radicals. Not only that, it also contains micro-algae scrub which is so gentle that you can almost feel nothing to help exfoliates the skin. Flaxseed & Quinoa, which is rich in omega-3 is also found inside for stronger and healthy skin.
Even the cleansing mud is of the same color as the mask!
SUPERCLEANSE Daily Clearing Cleanser on the other hand was launched in April, changes color and transform the mud into foam to dissolve the dirt and oil buildup on your face. Clear the pores yo! We want no blackheads or clogged/enlarged pores.
I like SUPERCLEANSE because it is formulated with paragons, sulfates and phthalates. I would say this is suitable for people with oily or sensitive skin. It has Licorice Root Extract to calm down irritated skin and Black Cumin Seed Extract for antimicrobial and antioxidant effects.
Not forgetting the all-time-favourite scent from the thirsty range.
This THIRSTYCLEANSE Daily Hydrating Cleanser, launched in May is rich in texture. Not only does it cleanse your face thoroughly, it also deeply moisturize the skin and contains rare Brazilian yellow clay to help remineralize the skin and pure green coconut for the hydration boost. Also because of the coconut, it has a very yummy scent which I personally like. When your skin is well hydrated, be prepared to welcome a healthy looking and beautiful skin 🙂

CNP – From Korea to SG!
When I was in Korea last summer, I came across CNP Laboratory as it was one of the hottest brands there. CNP was founded in 2000 and the 50 dermatologists from CNP Aesthetic clinic understood the importance and need for good after-treatment home care for various skin issues, so they came out with different ranges for different types of skin type.
CNP Cosmetics is currently South Korea’s leading cosmeceutial brand and has no less than 120 skin-care products. I am really happy to try some of their star products out.
There are 20 products available in Singapore ranging from $14 to $68. You can find them in ION, Paragon, Takashimaya, Vivo City, Causeway Point, Jurong Point, North Point and Parkway Parade’s Guardian.
They have different ranges like Special Care, Basic Skin Care, A-Clean and Dual Balance. More products will come in in the future.
A-Clean products are suitable for people with oily to normal skin while Dual Balance are good for combination to normal skin.
There are currently two kinds of mask. They are the 2-step mask as each mask comes with an ampule. Single piece is retailing at $6.80 while a box of 5 pieces at $30.10.
Step 1: Apply the ampule on the entire face after thorough cleansing of the face
Step 2: Gently press the mask on the face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes
I usually go beyond 20 minutes but lesser than 30 minutes though!

There are currently three ampules and all of them are suitable for all skin types.
Vita-Solution Whitening Ampule (brown bottle) at $47.39
Mugener Ampule (white bottle on the left) at $40.90

Propolis Energy Ample is one of their star products. It contains concentrated Propolis extract (also known as Honey Essence).
All the 3 ampules have light watery texture. It may appear sticky for the first 30 seconds, but once it gets absorbed it, there is no greasy or sticky feel at all.
Black Head Clear Kit ($14.10/3 sets). Each set comes with a hypoallergenic black head clear mask and a pore tightening mask which is used after the black head removal. Quite thoughtful eh?
Sleeping packs and sunblock are also available. I was so tempted to try their Propolis sleeping pack (gold tube, $48.90) for deep moisture. The white tube ($58.00) is for soothing. Seems like a good choice to rotate the two masks around.
Their sunblock – Tone-Up Protection Sun is tinted! So BB or CC cream is needed after this. It acts as a makeup base as well.
I was very amaze with their Daily Peeling Foam ($48.90).
The peeling effect is very gentle so it is suitable for everyday use. It foams by itself. You don’t even have to rub it. It is so gently that even people with dry skin can use it. So don’t even worry about flaking skin. The patented Anti-Irritant complex also made it suitable for people with sensitive skin.
Skin feels smoother after exfoliation when dead skin cells are washed away together with the foam.

Etude House I Need You A-Z Facial Masks
December is probably the coldest month of the year and this is also what causes our skin to be even drier and flakey.
Dry skin also meant rough skin. And all these could lead to a dull and old overall complexion.

I like Tea Tree products a lot because it helps to solve issues like pimple outbreaks during period or stressful days and Elder Flower can help soothe and calm down the skin.
They are exactly what I needed most now because of my mini pimple outbreak at the forehead caused by monthly hormonal changes.
Without hesitation, I opened up the Elder Flower to soothe the skin.
Inside the foil is a bag of goodness and a paper mask big enough to cover my big face!

I love to leave the mask on for 20 – 30 minutes before removing it but remember, your skin need to breath as well, so do not overwear it thinking that the longer you put, the more nutrients your skin can absorb!
I don’t like masks that leaves a sticky feeling after masking. If we were to wash the stickiness away, it would defeat the purpose of masking already right?
Good news is that the I Need You Masks from Etude House is totally NON-STICKY at all! My skin also feel ultra smooth after the application. It just felt like my skin went for a facial skin rejuvenation!
Now, I can go out with more confidence when the skin troubles are well taken care of! 🙂

How do you cleanse and mask effectively?
I am one of the lazy girls who doesn’t mask diligently. But when I do, I make sure I do it right.
As of now, I am using Beauty Clinic masks.
I.P.I Lightmax for my mom because she has dull and uneven skin tone and N.M.F Aquaring for myself to hydrate my skin.
Masking is not just slapping a piece of mask onto your face and there, lie down for 20 – 30 minutes.
I would say that it is insufficient for all you might not know, your pores might be clogged or clean enough.
Inefficient cleansing can lead to build up of dirt and chemical traces of UV and even make ups!
So step 1: Cleanse your face.
I am using Biore Facial Foam in this picture.
After cleansing the face, change into a set of comfortable home clothes and get ready for a pampering session.
Like I said, cleansing might be insufficient. So I would use Ionic Steamer from Panasonic which uses nano-ionic steam which can be penetrated deeply into the skin to quickly moisturize skin for deep moisture retention.
I would also use this before masking to “open up the pores on the face”.
Well, that’s my own theory, but it kinda work for me.
As things can get a little messy and wet, I prefer to put all my hair to the back.
This steamer is good for deep cleansing! Love the hot steam. It is extra comfortable when I use it in the air-conditioned room.
The hot steam can lift dirt and oil from the skin which hence, enables deep cleanse.
1. Cleanse.
2. Hot steam.
Enough? Yup! More than enough for a home based “spa” 🙂
Not just for cleansing, as the steam can penetrates deeply, it can allow the skin to have deep moisture retention.
It is especially useful for people who put on thick make ups or have dehydrated skin like me.
Sometimes, I get too comfortable that I don’t wanna let go of this steamer. Lol.
Anyway, I steamed the face for 10 minutes before passing it to my mom (the recommended time was 6 minutes only).
Juicy mask in the foil. And all the goodness is going to be absorbed into my skin in no time!!
Deep cleansing from the steamer removes the dirt while the juicy masks replenish the required essences.
Don’t judge me!! But this is how all of us look when we mask!! NO NO NO NO???!!!
I prefer to slap the mask on my face evenly so that every part of it gets what it deserve!
Unlike my mom, who is so lazyyyy, she just put the mask all over and NAP!
Anyway, I share most of my skincare stuffs with her 🙂
Don’t you dare judge her hor! She is just an aunty who doesn’t have perfect skin, but to me, she’s perfect just as she is. Just as pretty as she is 🙂
I know most people apply the masks for around 15 – 20 minutes but I prefer to put it longer. For about 30 minutes but never more than 30 minutes because the pores need to breath.
After everything, go to bed and wake up to a QQ skin the next morning!
Even application of make up seems so much smoother 🙂
