Sneak and peek at Heineken!

Leaving for Taiwan for my sister’s trip in less than 10 days time. What I hate about going overseas is that I have to reject all the events during the trip!! Sigh, there are already quite a handful of them coming up 🙁 Lucky J will be helping me with some when I am away. There will be a men’s event as well, hope he benefits from it! Hehe.

Last Friday, William brought us to Heineken’s party. We traveled to the future there. J looked so cute in the pictures from that night. BAHAHAHA. To make him even cuter, I forced him to buy some coloured lenses (that I am currently wearing ow) from our JB trip yesterday. I seriously think that we look even similar now. My JB trip will be up in the next entry.

Even in group photo, we are still in our own fantasy world.

Had to leave early because I had work the next day. Though short, but great catch up with the big boys.

Next entry will be up very very soon!

Cooking with Lee Kum Kee [Vlog]

We can’t cook. All we (I) can cook is probably instant noodles. I suck at cooking cause I find cooking a chore. Why spend hours and hours in the kitchen just for a meal when I can just spend 5 minutes for a takeaway.

So glad that Lee Kum Kee came out with something that makes cooking SO much easier! I would call it a “cheat” actually. Because, HOW can anyone whip up all these dishes within 30 minutes?!?!?!

Lee Kum Kee is found in almost every Chinese household in Singapore. My mom uses Lee Kum Kee sauces. They have 19 existing variants and they are adding 5 more to the list:

– Korean Marinade
– Sauce for Sweet and Vinegar Spare Ribs
– Lemongrass Marinade
– Soup Base for Black Pepper and Pork Bone Hot Pot
– Soup Base for Drunken Chicken Hot Pot

The chef demonstrated and prepared some dishes using Lee Kum Kee sauces, and indeed, it was done really quickly without bringing the standard of the taste down. In fact, the dishes we tried tasted quite nice.

Wahhhh. I feel so happy already. It isn’t that tough being a housewife after all :X

YAY~

Our first ever cooking session together.

Met my little girlfriend too!

We had some hands on and prepared Korean BBQ Pork Salad using Korean Marinade.

“TRUST ME WHEN I SAY I AM THE CHEF NOW!”

Guys who can cook rules my tummy. So buck up James, buck up!!

1. Marinate the pork and the sauces together for a few minutes.
2. Chop and soak the greens while pan frying the meat.
3. Mix everything together in a mixing bowl
4. You’re done!!

The sauce was neither too overpowering or salty, he literally finish all the meat!

Other dishes prepared using the other sauces:

Watch our cookout Vlog together!

We had such an enjoyable time cooking together at the event. Now, with these sauces at home, we can cook them at home too! I promised him that I would prepare the Tomato Garlic Prawns for him the next time 🙂

Now for the even happier part, each packet of sauce is only retailing for $1.90/pack. OMG? Yup, I am not kidding! Go grab a few packets from the supermarket and try whipping up a delicious meal for your family/partner! 🙂

Illumination Beach Party @ Sentosa

We had one hell of a crazy night yesterday! I went to Illumi Nation Beach Party at Siloso beach with J after work. It is Asia’s first glow-in-the-dark paint party!!

As I didn’t want to dirty my camera during the splash, the photos we took were mostly from William who was super duper drunk!! HAHA. I love how he always strip himself naked when he’s high!

The ground was pretty huge because there was a lot of different booths from photo taking, to splashing of neon paint, body art, drinks, snacks and more.

So glad that we were at the VIP area where we were served free flow of drinks and snacks. Thank you Illumination and WOM!

Go check out the pictures using the #becomethelight and #illuminationsg in instagram! Every sure had a lot of fun!

After we settled down, we went for the splash zone immediately! And got ourself drunk later on….

J and me got really really colorful so we threw away our clothes after our shower at the beach’s toilet.

Life is indeed colorful with YOU.

Kevin, William’s biological brother who certainly looks like him a lot!

It sure is fun to party with this bunch of people!!

CHEERS!!

We became the light at the end and I hope to be back again next year!!

What a wild evening. Now I need to rest for the upcoming weekends!! :)) WOOOHOOOOO!!!

ILLUMI NATION ROCK MY WORLD LAST NIGHT, literally.

Wedding Bells

Sigh.. I think I am seriously getting older and older… Other than counting the numbers of lines on your face, you can also estimate the age by counting the number of wedding invitations received.

Total wedding invitations received this year: 5

People around me are getting married while I am still pretending to be young. Literally acting cute and having fun.

Enjoy some of the pictures taken at the very unique wedding of #chriSmith!

Couple Day Out 3 with #jamesnmaybel

He brought me to a new cafe in my list which is located at Dempsey. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and there’s free parking which was a bonus!

We brought our laptops to work because there is free plug and wifi. I could stay there all day long!

I love the ambience here. It was a weekend but the crowd wasn’t that packed or noisy, unlike other cafes where you have to queue and queue and queue.

They sell other stuffs here where you can buy them back. From wine, to water, to other food.

I ordered a huge size of rainbow cake at $9 🙂 (The smarties were mine. I brought a huge tube of them out to chew that day hehe)

He likes his fringe down while I prefer it to be up 🙁

Flat White at $4.50 ONLY.

Love the cream cheese. I don’t get sick of it at all.

I hope your weekend was as fabulous as mine! 🙂

Saboten at 313 Somerset

Yayyy. I always visit IMM for Saboten but now I can have it at 313 Somerset too!! Most events are held in town so it would be a good place for an after-event catch up with blogger friends!

J and me dined at Saboten before we got together. Heh.

Like the other outlets (other than IMM), you can have free flow of greens.

I also love their specially imported rice from Japan.

Let me show you what they have on their menu (part of it) before showing you the promotions!

To celebrate the new opening, you will be able to find Iberico Loin Katsu, Fried Jumbo Prawn and few grilled items.

Grilled Chicken Set at $18.

Grilled Salmon Set at $21.

HungryGoWhere voted Saboten as Singapore’s best tonkatsu restaurant and then, Saboten has become the go-to place for all aficionados since it’s launched.

The Fried Jumbo Prawn is EXTREMELY fresh! J had 3 prawns for dinner along with the sides!

The king of shrimp is enveloped in a crispy exterior that is crunchy to the last bite.

Iberico Loin Katsu is delightfully unctuous and tender.

Not forgetting my favorite Chawanmushi which I had 4 cups that evening. Silky smooth is probably the best phrase for it!

All set menus come with side dishes: free refills of the light and fluffy Japanese rice, miso soup, cabbage, chawanmushi, pickles and refreshing Yuzu sorbet!

The new outlet excuses an inviting vibe yet peaceful enough for you to enjoy your meal.

They are located at Saboten 313@Somerset #B2-02/03 Singapore 238895 from 11.30am to 10pm daily.

Black & White: The Dawn of Justice

I love action-packed movies from Hong Kong a lot and most of them are really good.

Black & White: The Dawn of Justice (痞子英雄) is a Taiwan movie but it is as good as the action-packed movies that were produced in Hong Kong!! There are more than enough thrillers to keep you in suspense. The movie is directed by Tsai Yueh-Hsun and will be in cinemas in from 9 Oct 2014 onwards.

Attended the movie gala with J last night with the director and Mark Chao (I don’t know who is he until I googled him) present.

I had to googled for Mark Chao before watching the movie because I don’t know much about Chinese actors. But he acted really well in the show! My favorite guy however, is the guy who acted in Black Hawks for his heroic acts and Lin Genxin for his little comedy scenes.

I shall not reveal too much but it is always good for a little comedy to relax the nerves who were constantly kept in suspense on what would happen next.

Huang Bo had some touching and funny scenes in the movie as well. Not exactly touched to the extent of having tears in the eyes, but it teaches us to not take happiness for granted.

The graphics, the actions and sound effects of the movie were all good! Click below for the trailer (but I don’t think the trailer do justice to how good the movie is):

Plot (extracted from inSing.com):

Police office Wu Ying-xiong has been revered as a hero in the Harbor City ever since he stopped the terrorists on an airplane and kept the city safe. Unfortunately the peace is only temporary. Panic spreads the whole city as a series of bomb explosions happen within hours and this is just the beginning of a tight conspiracy. Wu is paired with the intelligent but arrogant loner, Chen Zhen to track down the mastermind behind the bombing incidents.

This 126 mins movie is out to blow your mind! I was honestly taken aback by how good the movie was.

I would rate this movie 4 out of 5 popcorns!

Thank you Clover Films Singapore for the invitation to the gala!

Couple Day Out 2 #jamesnmaybel

Another day out with J. But a more chillax one cause we were too tired from my work/his flight.

The night before, I told the caricaturist at ‪#‎lovenco‬ that I’ll be fetching my boyfriend at the airport the day after so he couldn’t make it for the event and he drew me this so that I can hold this while waiting for him at the arrival hall. So ‪cute!

Yeah! The boy got tanned and put on a little weight… lol

Not forgetting this pair of New Balance which I got him when he was in Australia. For people who are interested, I got it at New Balance Concept Store at Scape. Available in other colors too.

We wanted to go for some organic food near Rail Mall so we went up for some photos as well.

Rail Mall has seriously good lighting for photoshoot (and free parking too!!!)! Too bad we only did some selfies there. We wanted to avoid the harsh sun so we reached there about 5.30pm.

Other than one of the pictures, the rest of the pictures were raw and unedited. I like sunny days cause they give really gooood pictures. Couples who love exploring cafes can give cafe hunting a break and visit Rail Mall for some nice pictures together! 😉

If I were given a choice to make another casing for The Kase, I would definitely pick the picture below. Clear skin, good colors and happy looking.

The Kase: http://maybelinesim.sg/2014/09/29/the-kase-iphone-6/

I think J would agree with me on that. Yeahhhh, I know how cheesy and sticky we can get. Hahaha. Anyway, The Kase has portable battery and all as well. Do visit them at Ion!

I am seriously loving how the skin look under the skin. I don’t know who to thank, the make up, the skincare or Halley Medical Aesthetics.

I used to only like black, white and grey with minimal colors on me while J loves contrast. Right now… I am starting to love colors as well 🙂

SK-II Magic Ring Test

We never really had a skin analysis done before and we don’t know how good/bad our skin is. We took the opportunity to do the Magic Ring Test at the SK-II event last month!

Magic Ring Test is free. Visit them at their counters for an analysis too.

My skin age is only 18 (or 19, I can’t remember). YAYYYYYYYYY.

I think I need to take care of the spots (not visible yet but prone to spots according to the chart) most. Have to focus on that rather than firming. I tend to focus on firming more cause I don’t want saggy skin. Trust me. I am not as young as I look!

Look at all the areas that the machine has identified. I need to prevent this from happening!! 🙁

The test was done even before J had his first facial in his life.

And we seems to have the same problem! LOL. Speak of the similarities we have…

He was also introduced to SK-II Men range which he had been using diligently for the next few days after the analysis. Not bad!

With my Baby Xinyi~

All the MFP ladies~

Thank you SK-II for the hospitality and generosity! I hope the skin age will be 16 the next time I visit for a test again!!

Couple Day Out #jamesnmaybel

As mentioned, J and me meet 30 out of 31 days a month so we are quite “bored” of the usual dates in Singapore. Other than catching a movie, shopping, cafe hopping, I arranged a special date for us over one of the weekends!

His first ever facial was done last month for a review so I arranged a Glycolic Chemical Peel for us…

Now, why chemical peel instead of another facial?

To me… A facial can “cleanse” the skin and remove unwanted debris and dirt. But a chemical peel can improve the skin’s appearance by peeling off the first layer of the skin. New skin will grow out smoother and less wrinkled.

As J had some minimal scars which facial will not be able to remove, I was hoping for Chemical Peel to help as they can improve the appearance of the very mild scars by evening them out.

(Source: http://www.dermatologynwhouston.com)

Chemical Peels are non-invasive and THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOWNTIME for the peel which we did Halley Medical Aesthetics (yes yes, my skin clinic!). The NO DOWNTIME part is very important because J can’t take anything with downtime for more than 3-5 days due to his work.

Watch our Vlog below to find out more. (I had no base make up. Only sunblock and eye make up in the video)

The after-effect was amazing. We had very very very very radiant skin after the peel. We could see the difference instantly!

His skin started to peel a day later while mine only started 3 days later (I think I have retarded skin -.-). Although Dr. Tan told me that it is normal to peel a little, I was still worried so I went to google for more information. Everywhere said that it is common for the skin to peel so that the new skin will resurface. PHEWWW~

Say HI to pig nose.

After our session, I bumped into my friend who went for the consultation for fillers and ultherapy!!!! SMALL WORLD INDEED!! I had no idea what ultherapy was until I googled it. Sounds amazing! I am considering if I should do it for the smile lines…. I have 2 wedding dinners in Dec and I am going to be a bridesmaids twice….. Anything to make me look good till then (forever)…

Well, whatever it is, when in love, LOOK GOOD TOGETHER!

Love you and your pig nose James! :X
