Foie Gras in Sichuan Restaurant? New Menu Dishes Launch @ Chengdu Restaurant

Author: Alexius Chua

If you love your Chinese dish to be more than just tongue-searing spicy, then Chengdu Restaurant could be your favourite EAT destination. This Chinese restaurant pays homage to the capital of Sichuan province by doling out authentic Sichuan cuisine of the fire-breathing variety since its opening – mala hotpot, mapo tofu and kungpao chicken. A wise choice, as its Asia’s first city to be designated a ‘City of Gastronomy’ by UNESCO in 2010.

Chengdu Restaurant

The new menu showcases a myriad of taste profiles the complex Sichuan cuisine has to offer. Kicking in is the savoury appetizer of Roasted Foie Gras ($42.80). When presented, a cloud of white smoke billows, spelling an ultra-luxe ensemble of pan-seared foie gras with king oyster mushrooms, spring onions and red pepper flakes. It is dramatic, different (ain’t foie gras a French cuisine?), and nevertheless surprisingly quite refreshing considering the rich, fatty meat.

chengdu-restaurant-img-3

It is common belief that chicken feet is full of collagen, if it’s true this Chicken Feet with Pickled Peppers ($13.80) is a snack for beauty. Cooling and refreshing, the sourly sweet and slightly spicy cold chicken feet tastes different from the braised ones you would expect from the dim sum places. Preparation wise it is also much more tedious and testing on the culinary skills of the chefs.

Chengdu Restaurant

I enjoy biting into the jello-like beef tendon in the Braised Tendon with French Bean ($26.80). Slow-braising for 40 minutes gives the meat a fork-tender texture. Along with quail eggs and green chili mixed with a flavourful piquant sauce, this pot may look innocent, but is deceptively quite spicy.

Chengdu Restaurant

My own personal favourite, the Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs ($22.80) is finger-licking delicious. The premium pork ribs are simmered for 45 minutes with ginger, peppercorn and 5 other special spices, before being fried and tossed with other spices to give that mouth-watering flavour reminiscent of Sichuan streetside shaokao (barbeque).

Chengdu Restaurant

For the soup base we have the Sichuan Style Spicy Pot and Fish Fillet Sour Soup. The Sichuan Spicy Pot ($28.80) screams in-your-face hot, with a medley of black tripe, luncheon meat, quail eggs, starch noodles, prawns, squid and others that can usually be found in mala hotpot joints. Be sure to order the Sour Plum Drink before tackling this bowl of burning lava.

Chengdu Restaurant

A milder, less aggressive and slurp-able version is the Fish Fillet in Sour Soup ($22.80). A spicy and sour soup of boneless sole fish fillet in a majestic yellow broth, I find the soup appealing to me in such a way that it tinkles the senses while making it irresistibly wholesome. It would be my favourite amongst the dishes if only I am not such a big carnivore.

SHOP: Pepperkoko Online Store

I thought Pepperkoko was a Singapore online shop until I received their clothes! They flew them over from Taiwan!

Even thought it was shipped over from overseas, I got my orders in less than 72 hours WHICH WAS AMAZING. I also felt more assured when I was told that I can do a 1-to-1 size exchange if the sizing do not fit me within 14 days. The customer service support was really friendly when I had some questions to ask.

Some of the clothes size ranges from S to 4L. WOW. How many online shop actually carry up to 4L?! Best part is they are quite affordable and the quality surprised me!

Let me show you some of the clothes I picked. I got outerwears though 😛

This bomber jacket is so soft and cushiony! I felt like I am being hugged whenever I wear it!

And for this?! It is so lightweight and chic! It even comes with a hood at the back!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the quality of the jackets!!! I swear they look exactly the same in the pictures you see above, if not, EVEN BETTER! They won me over totally! I can foresee myself being a regular customer to them!

If you shop with them right now, you can get $10 off with a minimum purchase of $38 with the promo code “HU8T-HU8T”!

FOOD: Tai Cheong Bakery Opens in Holland Village!

Hong Kong Tai Cheong egg tarts was previously only available in a food kiosk in Takashimaya only. But last year, Tai Cheong Bakery opens their first overseas dine-in concept in Holland Village!

I could feel the authentic Hong Kong-style teahouse the moment I stepped into the cafe and I wanted to try everything on the menu. You will be glad to know that they do not impost service charge and the prices you see on the menu is inclusive of GST already.

Let me show you some of the dishes I tried and why I love them.

Three Coloured Silky Eggs with Rice ($9.90): A plate of steamed rice with a smooth, barely set three-egg omelette crowned with two toppings: Roasted Prok & Prawns, Roasted Pork & Beef, Roasted Pork & Crispy Pork Belly.

Three-Egg Macaroni Soup with Luncheon Meat ($8.50): The tomato soup is not as strong as I had imagined it to be. I like the light tomato taste and the strips of crispy fried luncheon meat.

Scrambled Egg Toast Stack with Chicken Chop ($9.50): The scramble eggs isn’t those buttery eggs you find outside so I thought it is a lot healthier. Look closely at the bottom and you will be able to find a pan-grilled chicken chop and creamy mushroom sauce at the bottom.

French pain perdu ($6.50): This was surprisingly my favorite among all because of the 100% pure maple syrup. I love how the fluffy white bread taste after a coat of egg wash with milk. I honestly don’t mind a second helping for this.

This cafe is perfect for a weekend family brunch! They sell famous Hong Kong tarts too – Egg Tart ($2.50) that comes with a unique butter cookie-like crust, Durian & Cheese Tart (to cater to local delights; $3.60) and Coconut Tart ($2.50). However, there is a limitation when it comes to the egg tarts. Each person can only buy 16 pieces of egg tarts for takeaway and 2 pieces for dine in. This isn’t such a bad idea after all. At least the people behind you gets to try them too!

Address:
31 Lorong Liput Singapore 277742 (Nearest MRT: Holland Village)

Operating hours:
830am to 1100pm Sunday to Thursday
830am to 1am Friday to Saturday

Do note that the mains on the menu are only available after 11am and they do not accept reservations as of now.

SHOP: Lenses from MrLens Malaysia

I wear dailies so purchasing them in Singapore can sometimes be VERY expensive 🙁

There are also occasions where I would travel in to JB just to stock up them because it is a lot cheaper across the border. Even though I will be able to save a small sum of money by buying my lenses in JB, I always end up getting stuck in the jam for hours. I can still remember clearly getting stuck for 5 hours just to come back to Singapore!

I started ordering Contact Lenses online (I mean legit brands ONLY!) through various online platforms and MrLens (http://www.mrlens.com.my/en) is one of them!

What I love about them is that:

  • They carry 1-day Acuvue Define!
  • The website is super friendly – Idiot proof in my opinion!
  • Cheaper than market
  • EXTREMELY FAST DELIVERY!

I need to compliment on the fast delivery because the lenses came within a week. I heard some of them got their lenses within 3 days too!

My 1-day Acuvue Define cost only RM118. The exchange rate is at our advantage right now, so if you do your calculations,  1 box/30 pieces of lenses only cost me less than $39.50! It can cost up to $60 per box here in Singapore! Without further considerations, I bought 6 boxes at one go.

If you ask me how satisfied am I with MrLens, the answer is, VERY SATISFIED and I will definitely order from them again once my quantity is low. I can save the time and effort travelling across the custom!

Check out my happy face – with 1-day Acuvue of course!

They carry a lot of popular brands, so pop over to see if they carry what you need at http://www.mrlens.com.my/ 🙂

REVIEW: Fancl Tense Up Collagen Drink

Collagen drinks… There are a lot in the market. However, my first encounter with collagen drink was when I was 17-18 when I tried FANCL because they were one of the first few players then. My sister was extremely vain. She would spend most of her part time salary on FANCL Tense Up because of the many great reviews she had heard. Of course, I was very much influenced by her so I joined her in the journey as well.

We bought FANCL Tense Up for quite a long period of time before they exited Singapore. We drank it daily because we were told that it could help achieve and maintain the best possible results. True enough, we could feel the difference. Especially at the stage where we were still undergoing puberty where acne seems to be a common thing, our facial complexion felt a lot better and we were looking very radiant.

When FANCL left Singapore and I could no longer buy Tense Up and their other products regularly, I experienced minor breakouts on days when the time of the month was near. And needless to mention, my face was not as radiant as before. I started relying on other skincare brands then. It was effective but it doesn’t give me the same confidence I felt when I used Tense Up.

So imagine how happy I was when I heard that FANCL is back in Singapore! Finally, I can get my hands on Tense Up without flying overseas!

What makes FANCL Tense Up different from others?

You know why I love Tense Up? Unlike other collagen drinks in the market, Tense Up is made up of tri-peptide collagen strings of molecules. The molecules are so small that they are able to pass through your digestive system and gets absorbed by your skin. When your skin is able to absorb the collagen, it will only get better and better.

What do I mean by better? Firmer, younger and brighter skin of course! As you age, your body loses more collagen… and even the amount of collagen produced by the body is also lesser as compared to younger days. This is why we age and wrinkles start to appear.

By the way, not only can it help the skin with HTC collagen of 2,600mg, Tense Up also contains Vitamin C, E, Coenzyme Q10, Hyaluronic Acid and a lot of other goodness that is not only good for your skin but your body as well! You can take it as a supplement for your wellbeing!

If you are wondering why 2,600mg and not more, that is because FANCL R&D experts have done extensive research and conclude that 2,600mg is the optimum amount of collagen that our skin need and can absorb!

When do you drink FANCL Tense Up?

The best time to drink it is before your bedtime because skin rejuvenation its on its peak at night. However for me, I don’t have a specific time to drink it. I find myself drinking it after lunch most of the time because I left my supply in my office 🙂

What did I experience after drinking FANCL Tense Up?

Need I say more? People usually do not get my age right because I look a lot younger than my actual age. Other than that, my skin now looks firmer and brighter! I am so glad they are back now!

If you are expecting brighter and clearer skin like me, YES! For sure! And you will be able to experience these benefits after your first month of supply. I must say that the effects appear quite fast if you are hardworking (don’t forget to drink it everyday!).

If you think that you are too young to be needing these, I would say better to start early than late as it is never too early to start prevention. FANCL Tense Up Collagen Drink is suitable for people in their 20s, 30s and even 40s! When you are in your 20s, you need to prevent wrinkles, once you hit 30s, you will need it for maintenance. And lastly, when you hit 40s, it can turn back the clock! It is never too early or too late to start your Tense Up journey.

Evidence: Below is a very recent #selfie of me with no edits done. Good skin yay! Thank you FANCL!

For more information about FANCL Tense Up, please visit their stores located at Isetan Scotts, Robinsons Raffles City and Suntec City. And here’s the big news: FANCL’s first ever flagship store will open at 313@somerset on the 23rd December!

Be sure to also follow FANCL SG Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FANCLSG.

Here’s a treat: get a $10 voucher after downloading the iFANCL App! You can download the app from App Store or Google Play. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy Tense Up as much as I do.

REVIEW: Geranium Gua Sha Fusion Treatment

Author: Maybeline Sim

Sorry to say, but my last facial was more 8 months ago :X So guess how happy I was when MFP sent me to Geranium to try out their Gua Sha Fusion Treatment?!

Gua Sha Treatment is a fusion of pharmaceutical-grade products backed by science and TCM technique. I call this the East meet West treatment. The treatment can instantly boost your skin’s hydration, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and even brighten up your complexion! Not getting, you can also achieve a more defined face contour when you do Gua Sha on the face!

When I first stepped into Geranium, the entire place was very welcoming and clean! Even the staffs there are super helpful and friendly which felt a lot like home. Changed into their bedroom shoes and off to bed I go :X

Just kidding! But the dim-litted room was really cosy. I slept a little during the 120 minutes treatment.

Here’s me getting ready for my treatment~

As usual, the first step is to remove and cleanse the face so that the face is free from make up, oil and dirt.

What I love about facial most is the extraction process. I love seeing my pores shrink after every extraction!

Extraction is usually painful but it was ok for me when the therapist extracted 8 months worth of dirt out. Okay, just exaggerating. She was quite patience with me even though there are areas which are harder to extract due to clogged pores.

Putting together a pharmaceutical-grade products backed by science, SkinCeuticals was used. Hence, my face was fed with goodness like Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin B5 and Advance Moisture Complex before the Gua Sha process.

These ingredients are essentials as they help to hydrate and repair the skin.

Gua Sha on the other hand, is using a board made from buffalo horn to gently stoke the skin. Gua Sha may sound painful but it wasn’t! At least not on the face. It felt more like a massage to me. It was super comfortable and the therapist is very skilled. I actually enjoyed the whole process a lot.

By doing Gua Sha on the face, it can help stimulate facial muscles to achieve skin firmness, encourage lymphatic drainage to remove toxin and water retention. If you ever feel that your face looks bloated, try out their Gua Sha Fusion!

You skin cells will also be prompted to start the renewal process as blood and Qi circulation are promoted to oxygenate the skin.

The therapist did half of my face to show me the differences. What were instant and obvious were my smile lines!!! My lines looked shorter! I always have this issue with smile lines because I laugh and smile a lot.

You don’t get to see my bare face very often so see now!!! Embarking on my journey to baby skin~

The treatment ended off with a cold hydration mask. I requested for them not to cover my eyes because I was texting James (hehe). Your entire face (excluding your nostrils) should be covered with the mask.

The mask was cooling at first but it keeps the skin assured that it will be in good “hands”.

After the treatment, my skin felt smoother as all the dirt and dead cells were removed! Skin also felt firmer and bouncier! In fact, it also looked more radiant after that. I feel like going back for another session because the overall experience was just too comfortable.

I just regained the extra confidence to leave house with naked face again now that my pores are not so visible!

The treatment cost $420 but you can get 40% off your first treatment!

By the way, Gua Sha Fusion TM is nominated in Harper Bazaar Beauty Award 2017 in the Category: Best Instant Results Facial

Thank you Geranium for the extra boost of confidence and for making me feel prettier again! Hehe. Look at my glowing skin~

Geranium is located at 26 Horne Road, BH Building #01-01 (nearest MRT station: Lavender).

FOOD: Proteins Obsession with Ninja Cut @ Seah Street

Author: Alex Chua

The go-to place for a robust protein selection for heartier dishes

From the good o’ folks who brought you the popular Japanese-inspired Ninja Bowl @ Duxton Hill, Ninja Cut is the new sister outlet and it has already set itself apart on the Seah Street belt. The difference? Heartier portion size, succulent meat and fresh seafood (that’s where the proteins come from), and the un-resistible all-day brunch menu!

Set in an industrial-minimalist ambient, Ninja Cut boasts mouth-watering protein-packed staples such as roast ribeye, crackling pork belly, juicy chicken, fillet of cod, tuna and whole squid; with an option of bases such as soba noodles, quinoa, a proprietary rice blend and garden greens.

If you’re not salivating yet, I surely am. Let’s chomp to find out!

‘Ninja Cuts’ selection

The dish for the health-conscious gym bunnies

Who says you can only enjoy good food on cheat days? With Gimme Chimi Chicken ($14) you can have the best of both world. The perfect post-workout protein hit, the tender sous-vide chicken breast is rubbed with Cajun spice and topped with house-made chimichurri sauce. Coupled with onsen egg and greens for that extra crunch, you’ve just made yourself a hearty meal your health-conscious friend would surely approve!

The show stopper for meat lovers -only 30 servings per day

If you’re a die-hard carnivore, the What’s Your Beef ($18) is the must try. This stand-out dish comes with 150g of succulent roast – cooked to perfect medium-rare doneness. One bite and you can taste the explosion of plump meaty flavour bursting in your mouth. The dish also comes with grilled corn seasoned with furikake, sautéed mushrooms, honey glazed carrots, onsen egg and golden garlic chips.

Named cheekily after Darren Wee, the ex-DJ turned restaurant owner, exclamation when he first tried this dish, Oh My Cod ($18)! truly lives up to its moniker with its unique paste – the umami-filled saikyo shiromiso – a white miso paste from Kyoto recognised for its sweeter notes and mild savoury flavour. The paste definitely adds a savoury edge to the cod fish, and the pan-seared cod fillet is moist, fresh and soft. The dish is served with honey-glazed carrots, asparagus and edamame.

All-Day Brunch selection

Don’t just stop at the mains. Having breakfast for dinner is perfectly acceptable at Ninja Cut

Perhaps all relationships should be like Cheeky Cheese ($18). The braised beef cheek and grilled cheese brioche makes a wacky yet inseparable pair. Seasoned with red wine and braised for a full day in Japanese curry, the oozy cheese sandwich acts as dipper to sop up this full-bodied beef gravy. The palate is well-balanced with the mild saltiness of the brioche and the tender sweetness of the beef cheek.

Stress disappears in the presence of desserts

Saving the best for the last, my favourite dish of the day is the Marvellous Matcha ($16). Oozing sweet green tea fondant once sliced into the crisp matcha ‘hotcake’, savouring each spoonful is like a warm hug. The pancake is topped with dollop of ricotta cheese, speculoos crumble, yuzu peel and chewy dango carelessly sprinkled. Patience is needed though, as it requires 15 to 20-minute waiting time as this sinfully awesome dish is made to order. But I must say it is definitely worth every minute of wait.

Overall, the spread in Ninja Cut is decently-priced considering the amount of quality protein you would get and definitely worth a second visit. A perfect spot for those fitness buffs and enthusiasts to keep in mind when looking for a spot to dine at within City Hall.

Spice up your taste buds with Riverside Grilled Fish

Author: Alex Chua

Go for the fish

If you’re like most true blue Singaporeans who have a palate for anything spicy, then Riverside Grilled Fish won’t disappoint. Situated within the basement of Raffles City Shopping Centre, this 150-seater restaurant serves up delectable grilled whole fish heaped with fiery chillies that would surely leave you sweating for more.

Here you can choose to pair your selected fish – Red Tilapia ($35), Sea Bass ($35), Black Promfret ($38) or Garoupa ($42) with any of the eight signature sauces as the base. To make your feast even more decadent, you can add-on the option of 18 different types of side dishes including sausages, pork belly, tofu sheets and flat vermicelli to be cooked with the whole grilled fish.

Let’s slice straight into this succulent Chong Qing dish shall we?

The flesh is soft and moist, flavoured with rich spicy sauce. Whats not to love?

Our first fish dish is the Garoupa in Signature Fragrant Spicy Sauce. Don’t be fooled by the myriad of colours and sweet aroma, the signature spicy base will make you sweat buckets! There is no doubt about the freshness of the fish served in this restaurant, which I heard are locally sourced salt-water fish. The main ingredients of this sauce includes dried chilli, diced spring onions, sesame, yellow beans and peanuts. It’s definitely the recommended choice if you’re looking for that extra spicy kick!

The best relationships are just like this dish – fresh, juicy and usually messy.

The second dish is the crowd favourite –Sea Bass in Unique Sauce. If you’re the adventurous type, you would definitely love the collision of sweet, sour, salty and Ma La flavours in your mouth. In my opinion this is charting slightly above in spiciness than the previous one because of its intense Ma-ness lingering on the tongue. Be prepared to order more drinks to wash down this flaming sensation!

Im happy with the sea bass, assorted veg and black bean sauce. Just pass me a plate of Pan Fried Shredded Pancake($4.80) to dunk .

What about those who cannot take spicy but still desires a taste of Chong Qing famous grilled fish? Fret not, there is Sea Bass in Black Bean Sauce. The Black Bean Sauce is made with a combination of black beans and coriander, giving it a distinctive fragrance and sweet tang from the black beans.

Hearty and slurpy side dishes served on a humbler portion.

Don’t just stop at the fish. Riverside Grilled Fish also offers extensive menu (more than 60!) of appetizers, snacks and beverages. We simply can’t get enough with the Si Chuan Flat Noodles ($4.80). This iconic cold dish has more than 90 years of history, and the flat noodles are made with soy beans sourced directly from Si Chuan. For those who are more health conscious, you might go for the Spinach with Mixed Nuts ($6.80). This delightful spinach dish comes with a mixture of nuts to give it that extra crunch.

Too cute but don’t stare for too long cause he’s shy

What comes next after a sumptuous omega-3 rich meal? More fishes! Just kidding. But surely you can take comfort with this cute Casper-white fish. The Cold Rice Cake with Brown Sugar ($6.80) is the perfect dessert to calm your palettes from all the exciting flavours.

Overall, Riverside Grilled Fish is definitely a surefire hit for those who live and breathe hotness. If you’re a fan of fiery spices, then this is definitely your place. Come with 2-3 more kakis, order the main grilled fish with a couple of side dishes and you’re all set for a raucous, satisfying meal!

CONTEST: ASUS #flipmyday ZenBook Flip

I am an early sleeper. I try to get back onto my bed by 10.30pm every night even if I am not sleepy yet because all I really want at the end of the day is a good rest.

What #flipmyday is being able to end my day on my bed watching dramas/ movies or reading a good novel/comics in bed. Even when I am really really tired after a long day, these are still what I have to do before I turn in. It is not a routine. It is what that keeps me happy and satisfied!

And during my weekends, as you can see from my Instagram, I am either out for exercise or staycations with the boyfriend.

You may think that staycation means enjoying life but I always bring all the sponsored/adverts products along with me for OOTD or product shot. The reason why I bring them along is because the room and environment are way nicer than my house :X Who doesn’t want a nice photo in Instagram right? Hehe.

Seems like my phone and blog plays a huge role in my daily life. However, apart from phone, the second most important necessities in my life would be the laptop. This is because I rely on it heavily for my blogging! Even when I travel out of Singapore, which occurs at least 3-4, times a year.

Truth be told, being a blogger has its perks as well as its challenges. Blogging for adverts & posts on the go while meeting these deadlines serves the ultimate challenge! The extensiveness of my blogging also means that I have to carry its around constantly. I had a couple of heavy laptops that brings back piercing memories of backaches!

Hence, I was extremely excited when ASUS broke the news to me that they have a laptop that can solve my issue with the regards to constant backaches and travels! That brings me to this ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360.

This sleek & exquisite-looking laptop is a ‘convertible’. Why so? It is because it allows you to flip a full 360-degree thus converting it from a laptop to touch screen pad!

If there is a laptop that is a yoga champion, this one got to be it! Just see how far back I can stretch the back of the screen to the bottom of the laptop!

Other than being extremely flexible, the 13.3 inch laptop is supported by FULL HD LED backlit display, topped with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. If you are willing to go for the higher tier ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360, the resolution goes beyond to even support up to 3100 x 1800 pixels resolution! Watching dramas, movies & youtube videos are such an enjoyment with this laptop!

Touch screen laptops are highly convenient for people who are always on the go. Seconds are shed off unknowingly when you move your mouse cursor! I admit I can get rather impatient sometimes! I will choose a touch screen anytime to save that few seconds!

Not to mention that it makes me feel a notch more hi-tech among my peers when everything is moving towards touch screen nowadays!

One of the biggest selling point of this laptop apart from it weighing a mere 1.3kg, is the slimness!! It is only 13.9mm thin!!! That simply screams portability wherever I go & I do not risk growing bulging bicep muscles after carrying this laptop for a year!

And when my phone runs out of battery when I am on the go, I can use this laptop to #flipmyday YAYYY. More scrolling of Instagram, watching videos on the move!!

There are two USB ports, enough for attaching a mouse while charge my ASUS phone at the same time. If you are asking why not more USB ports with so much side space? It is simply because ASUS knows how to make smarter use of the remaining space! There are other ports such as a micro-HDMI, DCIN port and a built-in SD card reader! I would say most of the critical ports are present on this laptop.

Here’s me last weekend. I brought it out to events so that I can blog in-between events. Yes, I admit I live a hectic life so there are so many things, which I have to “settle” on the go.

Now for the heart of the laptop! The core M processer with 4GB of DDR3 system memory is more than sufficient for me to do those ME-time stuff like watching drama or blogging on the go.

Not to mention even gaming! J has taken the liberty to download a couple of games that takes up huge RAM space & I am impressed it did not lag the laptop a bit!

Not only did it #flipmyday, it saved my night too! I can work more during the day and rest earlier at night! Opps, I mean I can jump into bed earlier at night to enjoy my “rest”! Hehe.

If you are wondering what I meant by it #flipmyday, it means that it actually make my day!

Let me flip and show you some cool #LaptopYOGA moves!!

I did say it can even fold it all the way such that it becomes a tablet, didn’t I?

*Proof*

Like I said, I am always blogging on the GO. I have blogged some of the KEY highlights of this Laptop & now I going to have to GO!

This laptop is already available in Singapore in Icicle Gold and priced from $1,298.

For full specifications of ASUS Zenbook Flip UX360CA, please visit https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/ASUS-ZenBook-Flip-UX360CA/specifications/

Say: Blogs VS Instagram / Social Media Shoutouts

Some say, the blogging industry is dying because there are a lot of influencers out there on Instagram. Really?

I prefer to think otherwise. If a lot of bloggers are turning to Instagrammers, then the value of bloggers should be going up now that there are lesser.

Who reads the blog nowadays? – You may ask.

But if you are interested in some skincare, movies or games, do you google? And where do reviews come from? Articles and blogs.

Google does not lead you to micro-blogging site like Instagram. As much as I love Instagram, I still turn to blogs for reviews. I google about the product that I am buying – be it a phone, sunblock or eating-places.

I feel blessed because I have never given up on blogging and I do have a neat statistics every month. Neat enough for me to tell the brands that engage me at least. Neat enough to let me feel that “Phew, people are still reading my blog. I have to continue to blog.”

Honestly, you need the passion to keep a blog alive because it requires A LOT of time and effort.

Instagram, on the other hand, requires effort in taking nice photos as well. It works well for campaign awareness for that short period of time or when you need to do a mass shoutout.

People who are famous on Instagram may not have high stats and people who have little followers may fare better with their blog.

So what’s your take?

Food for thought: Can blogs be replaced by Instagram?
