How I celebrated my birthday with a Faber Licence Membership

Among all the birthdays I had, this year has been the most fruitful! I must say it was soooo fruitful that I slept a full 10 hours straight like a long after the whole day of activities!

To give you guys a short context of the happenings, I actually spent more than 24 hours in Sentosa doing a myriad of physical activities, which I have never done it. I felt slightly ashamed as well; being a Singaporean, I have never done these activities before! Like what many would deem, these activities were “so near yet so far” from me!

It is easy to plan what to do or discover discounts with the new digital Faber Licence Membership! Explore the app and find discounts for various restaurants and enjoy unlimited cable car rides onboard Singapore Cable Car Sky Network!

Faber License

This is how the digital membership card looks like. At $39, the 1-year Faber Licence offers a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment benefits and discounted staycations all-year round. It also provides one of the most generous privileges for diners, with members enjoying 20% off at F&B outlets at Faber Peak Singapore, including Dusk Restaurant & Bar and Arbora as well as Good Old Days located on Sentosa.

Psst: You can buy Singapore Cable Car tickets for your family members at 50% off! Actually, it is 50% off for Sentosa Merlion, Wings of Time and a lot more!

Registration and payment can be easily done on your phone at member.onefabergroup.com. You can view all the membership privileges in the web app too!

After registering for the membership, we checked in to Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, the room wasn’t the only item that I was pleasantly surprised with. They went the extra mile to prepare a birthday cake! It’s my favourite flavor somemore! I couldn’t feel more pampered with their services. Nice one nailing my very first birthday cake of the year, lovely people from the team of Amara Sanctuary! *kisses*

I knew time was tight so I spare no time checking out the room and facilities before shooting out of the hotel to catch the planned activities.

Nonetheless, a quick word for the room: Apart from the captivating white colonial architecture, the room is extremely huge. As you walk past the bed, you will be invited with a pleasing view of the bathtub that promises a comforting night after a lethargic day. Both James & I took turns to soak ourselves in the tub for a one good hour at night. Not that the tub wasn’t enough to accommodate the size of two adults, we just selfishly wanted some private time with the bathtubs ourselves!

Another favourite location of the room would be the balcony. It overlooks over to the infinity lap pool, which span right next to Mother Nature! The room just gives us layers and layers of comfort close to not only nature but also our heart!

To stop us from becoming HANGRY, we took Bus A from the hotel to ‘Imbiah Lookout Station’ where we have to take a short cable car ride over to Arbora Restaurant, which is located at Faber Peak. Do note that if you are traveling to Faber Peak, you will have to travel by the Mount Faber Line. Rest assured that the instructions are pretty intuitive as long as you keep a lookout for the signboards.

The Singapore Cable Car brought back much memories as James and I dined in one before during one of our Valentine’s! Maybe even more memories for him as he did a shoot for them before as a talent to promote Cable Car Sky Dining. Lol. I love Cable Car rides as it never fails to disconnect me from reality!

It was a quick 7-10 minutes ride to Arbora (previously known as Spuds & Aprons). They rebranded themselves on October this year.

The food & services were on par. Par as in GOOD! I wished I had another stomach to try a few more of their mains. I am a super avid pasta lover and it is no surprise I would order their pasta without much consideration. But that also means that my expectation of pasta are super high! Nonetheless, they did not disappoint as the texture of the noodle was to my liking; chewy yet not being too hard.

Best part, the food was not too expensive; we had 3 mains & 1 side for $103 in total and what’s more, you can enjoy 20% off the total bill with Faber Licence! If you are looking for somewhere romantic to bring your date to, I would strongly recommend Arbora. You do not have to travel into Sentosa for them. Just drive up to Faber Peak on Mount Faber and for those that do not drive, you can take the Singapore Cable Car up from Harbourfront Tower 2. With Faber Licence, you can enjoy unlimited cable car rides year-long!

When we were done settling our bills, the restaurant surprised me with more cakes! To be more exact, four different flavor of cakes! Sinful but all I can feel is bliss! Not only do they have good services, they are constantly smiling. That is how service should be done! Kudos to the team of Arbora!

After filling our stomach, we went back to Sentosa via the Sentosa Cable Car Line and took the Sentosa Express to Beach Station. All ready for our Skyline Luge and Gogreen Segway! Two of the activities I wanted to try but never got to do so till that day!

Don’t you think we look cute here? We look like real life version of SuperMario Kart! Kids can also join in the Luge as there were quite a few kids who zoom past us with excitement even before we sat down on our Luge. However, you have to carry your things while you are on the Luge. So, my recommendation is not to bring too much things along with you when you are heading for the Luge! Good thing is the Luge is a fairly easy to learn activity; anyone can pick it up within matter of minutes! You are off to the roads before you even know it! Ha!

skyluge sentosa

Just when I thought we have to walk all the way up for another round of Luge, the guy told us that we could actually take the Skyline up. Phew!

So we had 2 rounds of Skyline & Luge in total! Here is a snapshot of us on the Skyline! We certainly look anything but tired, don’t we?!

Sentosa SkyLuge

Moving on to Segway, I was initially quite scared as I can’t balance well. However, trainings were conducted before the actual activity to ensure that we know how to operate it. One round of Segway is approximately 800m and I am super proud to say that I did not fall nor even stop a minute on it! Only regret is that 800m is so short! I want it to be loooooonger!!!

Right before the sunset, we went over to the Sentosa Merlion. Even though I visit Sentosa on a frequent basis, I have never once gone up the Sentosa Merlion. I would say that it was quite an experience for me!

We were greeted with a 5-minute show, followed by a learning journey and then, up the lift to the Merlion’s mouth & head gallery! We attempted some jumping shots there with the beautiful coastline of Singapore straits but we failed. Lol! But what was successful was my patriotism towards Singapore after the session! So proud to be a Singaporean!

Everyone who enters is also given a little GOLD souvenir (below).

Singapore Merlion Prosperity Coins! Keep one in your wallet so that your lady luck will follow you all the way! I must say they were pretty well made. So much so I would really keep one in a safety deposit box just to always remember this day!

Sentosa Merlion

For dinner, we had ‘Good Old Days’ as it was right beside the show “Wings of Time”. We went over for the 7.40pm show. Do not worry if you miss the 7.40pm show as there will be another show at 8.40pm 🙂

Sit back and relax while you enjoy the show that comprises of beautiful lights, sound, lasers and even fireworks! To be honest, there are just so many thrilling stuff that even though my body was exhausted but my mind was still as awake as the start of the day!

sentosa wings of time

We concluded our day with a good meal at Good Old Days where local delights like Chicken Rice, Laksa and double boiled soup were served. The restaurant is located beside Wings of Time, and right infant of iFly!

Hotel Review : 4 Reasons to go for Le Meridien Singapore, Sentosa

Love doing staycations in Singapore?

Here’s 4 reasons why you should consider Le Meridien Singapore Sentosa, a contemporary 5-Star hotel featuring 191 guestrooms situated next to Imbiah Station.

1: Superb Location – Wake up next to Merlion!

Unlike other hotels you can get in town, staying in Le Meridien Singapore Sentosa will make you feel like you are on a mini vacation as you are on another island; an island not to be missed especially if this is your first time in Singapore!

I am going to dive right into the biggest selling point for its location! You have the most iconic Merlion right beside you!

Imagine waking up in the morning with the iconic Merlion greeting you!

Furthermore, it is a stone’s thrown away to the key destinations within Sentosa such as RWS, Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A Aquarium, the newly-opened Kidzania Singapore as well as world-class culinary delights. This means that you can walk to the casino, theme park & even Michelin-starred restaurants within minutes.

2: Spacious & Comfortable Room – You won’t feel like leaving the room once you stepped in!

We were fortunate to be hosted at the Heritage Suite situated at the Heritage Wing which left quite an impression.

Be ready to be greeted with a spacious ‘living room’ as you open the door! It is like a long hallway with a comfortable sofa that can easily fit 3-4 pax. The cosy space here allows you to plan a movie night with the large LCD TV for 5-10 pax while you guys enjoy a nice cuppa Nespresso made from the Nespresso machine.

Making a beeline down the ‘living room’, your eyes will be greeted with a big king-sized bed (image above) big enough to even cater to European heights.

Even better what lies on that bed if you are really famished by the time you checked in. Be sure to try their palatable pastries which is also served during their Hi-Tea sessions (more to be shared below).

Coming to the toilet! There is a large bathtub, a shower room, toilet bowl area all partitioned by transparent glasses. We appreciate that there are two sinks within the toilet so that couples like us do not have to fight over the use of sink in the morning!

A very comprehensive set of bathing & post-bath necessities are kept within bamboo baskets e.g. cotton buds, shower caps, toothbrush, shaver & cream etc. They even gave a packet of bath salt should you wanna soak in the hot bath tub to dissolve that long-accumulated stress away!

3: 24 Hour Gym & Photogenic Swimming Pool – Burn your Calories anytime!

Who cares if you ate too much during this staycation! They have a ready ‘pool’ of avenue literally to burn those calories!

I really appreciate the fact that they made the gym 24 hours and it is well-equipped with the latest equipments from Technogym.

In fact, I was having a bit of an insomnia that staycation night.

So guess what? I decided to take it to the gym till the wee hours without any worries that any of their friendly staff politely asking me to stop my exercise! How cool is that!

I just trained with half of the equipment in the gym that night & back to complete the others during the next afternoon before we checked out!

Another noteworthy amenities is their swimming pool.

You could just laze & suntan your afternoon away on the chairs lining the shallower side of the pool!

See how happy and satisfied I am with the clean pool which is 1m in height; Guess it is relatively safe for kids, hence I noticed some parents bringing their children down for a dip!

The pool seems to have a magical way of draining away time without you realizing it! Maybe it is because I had been too indulged in the serenity. Lol! ><

Well, that is exactly what I am here for : Auto Switch to ‘De-stress’ mode!

3: Spoilt for Great Deal of Culinary Delights – You might not even need to explore other parts of Sentosa for food!

The meals (eg Hi-Tea, Buffet Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) are served at a their in-house restaurant by the name of ‘Latest Recipe’.

Lets start with the Breakfast after a good night rest on our fluffy bed!

Their breakfast buffet spread is good; with a good array of Western, Indian, Chinese offerings.

Some of our favourites are their freshly squeezed Calamansi & Chocolate Dinosaur to awaken your palettes.

I had quite a few servings of their nicely sliced assorted Cold Cuts! Best with some crusty bread and Thousand island salad sauce!

Chocolate Bagels, anyone?

Other delights include the mashed Beef, Teriyaki Chicken with special marinate etc. The list just runs on…

We had one of the most scrumptious hotel breakfast!

When you have such a heavy breakfast, it gives you enough time to digest till the Hi-Tea during the mid afternoon hours!

We had the Champagne High Tea Set at $78++ for 2 pax. For non-alcoholic lovers, you can opt for the non-alcoholic version at $69++.

The price is reasonably-priced because of the quality & quantity of delectable pastries they lay on your plate.

You get a portion of Shucked or Baked Oysters or Baked Lobster with Cheese (front of the image below) of which I picked the former while M went for the latter!

Even better, you get to do pastries/canapes-pairing with a glass of red, white wine or Champagne.

That is not all! You are given a pot of tea of your choice which can help with cleansing your palettes and aids in digestion. You couldn’t have asked for more during this Hi-Tea!

4: *Attention aspiring Influencers* –  A lot of Instagram-worthy spots!

A picture paint a thousand words, so I am just going to save my words & let the pictures below do the talking!

With the 4 points mentioned above, it is no surprise that we score this hotel 5/5!  🙂

If I had to nitpick this hotel, it would be just to upgrade the bath tub which took quite a while to fill up when I was very much looking forward to relaxing in my warm water bath! In its defense, the bath tub is probably bigger than conventional ones! Haha!

All in all, we felt very rejuvenated & pampered by the huge space, beautiful interior and luxurious feel to this whole hotel. It was worth every single minute of our weekend! This is definitely one of the hotels we will return to the next time I decide on another staycation!

Party: Summer Loves SunPlay at Mambo Beach Club

Guess who are the SunPlay ambassadors? It is not too difficult to tell!!

But first, let me thank Xinyi for all the pictures!! I left my camera at home by accident :'( Because of the good weather and colorful outfits, the pictures were all so pretty!!!

We were decked in Red and Blue for Summer Loves Sunplay at Mambo Beach Club. Even though it should be the hottest period of the year, but it kept raining non stop! Luckily there was only a slight drizzle during the party.

It was such a happy sight to see kids playing in the pool. By the way, they got an ultra cute GUMMY BEAR FLOAT TOO!!!

We were there in a group which made the party even better!! The company, ambience, activities were ALL good! Especially when we did not even have to worry about being in the hot sun because we were all WELL protected by SunPlay Ultra!

Double the trouble with two couples!!

Darling girl. The huge ball beside me was float I stole from the pool!

And another bunch of fun-yet-nasty people 😡 Nasty but fun!

Celebrities were also present. They were busy doing zumba on the stage with the instructors who specially choreographed a dance for the event.

Spot us in action! Congrats SunPlay for breaking the Singapore Book of Records for the most number of people applying Sunblock together!!! So glad to be part of this party!!!! It was such a record breaking moment!!!

I am glad and contented to know that we can work together as a couple outside our job. I don’t mean moonlighting FYI. I meant to say that it is heartwarming to know that people see us as one.

I NEVER NEVER STEP OUT OF MY HOUSE WITHOUT SUNBLOCK. I don’t want skin cancer or pigmentations. So the take home message is….. Always remember your sun block!!

My Countdown 2014 @ Sentosa

Where did you countdown last Dec 2014? How was it?

For me and James, it was pretty quiet until 9pm as we had dinner with his family for his birthday dinner prior to partyinggggg!

We wanted to party with the rest of the 15,000 party goers who were there to welcome the new year at Asia’s largest beach party. There were more than 20 international and local DJs (Zurich-raised DJ Mike Candys, DJ Shy, DJ Tinc and more) who took the decks across five party zones for 12 hours straight. It was a 6pm to 6am party.

OUR FAVOURITE AREA WAS THE FOAM PARTY where everyone had to just get DIRTY!! There were a lot of people from different countries and races partying and throwing foam at each other!! Everyone looked so happy that night.

Because James drove, so we were pretty restricted. No foam on me!!

The boy couldn’t resist. He just had to get into the “pool” of foam.

I also liked the big stage and love VDJ Funky T!!! His music made all of us grooved like crazy! People couldn’t stop dancing or singing to the songs. I got a little high too (even though I did not drink) LOL.

The same for James. He was dancing away happily……

Cheeky boy is happy.

Happy boy is cheeky.

We moved from the stage to the foam party and back to the stage again. To and fro and to and fro.

We waited till 12mn for the countdown and fireworks! WOOHOOOO. It was spectacular!! I wished I had it recorded.

Siloso Beach Party closed the colorful chapter of 2014 and began a new journey into 2015 with the best company and party setting that its participants could ask for.

I am so going back on 31 Dec 2015 with a big group of friends this time round!!

Color Run 2014 with J

To be honest, this is my first ever marathon and I really gotta thank Crowd and New Balance for this!! I think I just had the best Saturday for 2014 (who knows if a better one might come along later, but for now, this is one of the most interesting one!!)!

I was really happy when I received the email invitation to the run and on top of the tickets, New Balance also sponsored my partner and me a set of running gears from head to toe (NB top, bottom, headband, wristband, socks, bandana & shoes).

I got the exclusive (not for sale) all-white New Balance Fresh Foam 980 Color Run Footwear (for ladies) while J received the Limited Edition Color Run shoes instead.

We were given neon paints and colors to decorate the shoes with.

I seriously liked how the white shoes looked and didn’t wanted to decorate it…..

But well, MORE COLORS, MORE JOY!!

We were still clean and fresh at the start of the race. Also, thankfully for the bag drop area, our bags were spared from all the colors!

While waiting for the race to start…… The DJs got the runners in the mood by blasting music and throwing colored powders at all the runners.

You know, he looked even happier than me.

The first station was the BLUE station. People were rolling all around for colors. By rolling around, I mean literally lying on the floor and rolllllllll.

It was a very happy run because strangers would throw powder at each other, high five as we ‘walked’ and cheered each other up. It is truly a run to let loose and bring the stress level down. It can be stress from school, exams, work or friends. Once you’re in there, you don’t even have the time to think about those stress!!

Random girls who went “EHH PIC PIC” and posed for me. Hahahaha. So bubbly!!

We attempted to take a picture together and some strangers threw a bomb on J’s face. IT WAS LIKE BIRD SHIT. LOLOL.

I think I enjoyed myself most at the green and red station. I went up to the crew and asked if she could lend me her bottle of spray so that I could spray it on J’s head but she sprayed it on both of us instead.

We were just…….. very very very happy and thankful for being able to be part of this run.

At the finishing line with Shine and Joey. I don’t know what happened to my bird nest hair LOL.

It feels good to let loose once in a while. By letting loose, I don’t mean drinking or clubbing. Although it is still relatively unhealthy to be breathing in the powder during the run/walk, it is always healthier than clubbing 🙂

And our shoes…..

They are all dirty now…

I’ll still bring you along when I run…. 🙂

Once again, Thank you New Balance and Crowd!

Boxing Crab Sentosa

Do you remember Boxing Crab Sentosa? Recap here: http://maybelinesim.sg/2012/12/08/boxing-crab-sentosa/

A must-try is the Braised Claypot Crab with Superior Broth and Pumpkin!!!

This is my third time there (I went back with my family for the pumpkin crab as well).

They came up with a Menu for Mothers’ Day Special!

Treat your mother to the best crab secret in Sentosa, a nice gem that overlooks the seafront and as such the scenery is splendid.

The Mother’s Day Set Menu for 4 pax is at $328++ and only valid from 1 to 12 May.

And the dishes includes:

Deep Fried Spiny Lobster Salad
I like the chewy feel of this dish and it taste as if it was soaked in salted egg yolk! Yums!!

Braised Treasure Chicken in Lotus Leaf

Most mom loves herbal stuffs. This taste a little like herbal chicken but different.
Look at the pictures below and you can see how filled it is with all the different ingredients!

Homemade Water Chestnut Bean Curd with Spices Meat

Inside the tender beancurd is some crispy water chestnut. The meat used is chicken, not pork.

Boxing Crab do not serve Pork or Lard.

Stir Fried Sea Scallop and Prawn with Asparagus

Big scallops and juicy prawns.

Braised Chili Crab wrapped in Lotus Leaf Deep Fried Bun

And now, the highlight, the Chili Crab which most Singaporeans loveeeeee!

As much as I love their Pumpkin crab, I love their Chili crab too. Most of the bloggers that night prefer chili to pumpkin and I had a hard time deciding which is nicer because both were equally awesome.

But I guess my ultimate choice is still the pumpkin crab!!!

What’s Chili Crab with Man Tou right????

Alright, we are ready to attack them now!!!

Stir Fried Vermicelli with Seafood

Another dish with juicy prawns and scallop.

Red Bean Soup with Coconut and Lotus Seed

There is always room for dessert no matter how full one is.

Pamper your mom with the Red Bean Soup after a satisfying meal.

Happy Seafood Lovers!!
