Food: Dine Inn – Share a taste of Home
Whether you are a foodie, someone who loves to eat or someones who loves to cook, I have something for you!
Not sure if you guys noticed that some food influencers are constantly uploading food pictures from Dine Inn and it seems that there is quite a variety of cuisines to choose from. All the different dishes do not come from the same person FYI!
Let me give you some background on how Dine Inn works:
Dine Inn is one of the latest online community marketplace for home-cooked meals, designed to connect the makers (Hosts) and lovers (Guests) of home-cooked food via an online platform. Guests may order their meals to dine at the host’s place, delivered to their house, self-collect or even getting the Host to cook at their place.
The website has a very clean interface so it makes it a lot easier to navigate through the website.
There are two ways to shop for your meals there. Before you make your choice, you can either:
- Click “Browse all hosts” and check out their available slots
- Check what is available on your desired date by filling up the box on the left (in the image above)
The interesting thing about Dine Inn is that you can choose to Dine at Host’s Place or look for a Chef for Hire. I get awkward really easily so I will go for the Delivery/Self Collection option anytime. However, do note that there is a flat fee of $19 for delivery charge and all delivery takes up to 60 minutes.
For example, if you usually have lunch at 12pm, pick the slot at 11am instead of 12pm as the driver will only pick up the food from the host place at the time stated on the site.
I have already placed 11 orders and submitted 11 reviews there. So you know where I have been getting my lunches from 😀
I have also tried ordering dinner for my parents from Dine Inn as they have the habit of eating out everyday. The good thing about this platform is that, they get to eat home cooked food without having to cook the meals themselves! It warms them up from the inside – kind of.
Here are some examples of the food you can expect from Dine Inn:
Let me share some of my experiences with you:
My first order was a fruit tart from Natasha and I even made a repeat order because it was too nice! When she knew that it was meant for someone else instead of me, she even help to wrap it up a little. Very thoughtful indeed!
Got 2 boxes of Rose Steamed Cakes with chocolate fillings for the boyfriend and my family. Our parents were glad to know that it is low in sugar! Sandra, the host still texted me to ask for our feedback and explained that she reduced the amount of sugar so that the cakes are healthier.
I don’t fancy eating at hawkers during lunch hours because of the crowd and heat so I ordered home cooked food from Dine Inn for a period of time and boyyyyy… my favourite lunch was Prawn Pasta from Shaaleni. For just $6.50, I got 6 huge juicy prawns and a box full of spaghetti!
The food was still hot when it reached me. Unlike other food delivery companies, I don’t even have to heat it up. The meal came with a small note from the host too.
You will never know what are the surprises you will receive each time you order from Dine Inn because some of the food will blow you off after the first bite as it could be someone else’s home recipe. I have gotten a few sweet handwritten notes, oranges (because it was CNY period) and more.
Thank you Chef Eric Teo and Mr. Luke Lee for coming up with this concept. Much love to all the hosts who shared a taste of their home with me 🙂
Dine Inn is currently only available on the computer. The mobile version is expected to be released next.
