Today, I will be sharing something very useful for people who are going to get a new flat or calling the banks one by one just to check up on their housing loan packages. I promise this is going to be useful for you as it has been a great help to me.

As all of you know, I have recently gotten my flat before my wedding and this means that I can reprice my property right now.
I was so desperate that I even went online to ask for recommendations.
Truth to be told, James and I went ahead with the bank recommendation for our housing loan from our property agent as she is a friend of ours. She actually gave us the commission and did not keep a single cent. Honestly, we were also quite lazy to call all the banks in Singapore and compare their interest rates one by one.
We had quite good rates when we signed the package but even before any sum was disbursed to the developer, the interest rate increased! We felt extremely pissed off but well, we did not sign up for a fixed interest rate to being with so we only have ourselves to blame for wanting the easy way out.
Don’t be alarm when I tell you that our current interest rate is more than 2%! The only way to console myself is that I am not paying 2.6% for the HDB Loan right now. I went around asking and our interest rate was the highest among my friends.
Having said that, I wished I knew MoneySmart earlier.
MoneySmart.sg is one of the largest financial portals in Southeast Asia region and it allows me to compare financial products like credit cards and housing loans from different banks in a single platform.
If I knew this portal earlier, I might have been able to save some money for the wedding by using the right cards.
Did you see the picture above? Take a look at the bottom left corner of the screenshot. The current lowest floating is 1.48% and fixed is 1.99%. I thought the fixed rate is still on the high side…

There were 27 results for me to compare. Prior to sharing about MoneySmart here, I actually did check out the rates from 3 different banks 1 by 1 as I have to reprice or refinance my housing loan by August 2018.
The interest rates for the 3 banks that I called were exactly the same so I can safely say that the information on the site is up to date. I have also just made my decision on which bank and which package to go for.

Bespoke Wedding Gowns at Bridal Veil by MichelleHuiMin (Part 1)
This is going to be a lengthly post as I would like to pen down our gowns and suits journey for #AwMayzingJourney.
Some couples fly overseas to get their suits and gowns down and some fly over specially for Bridal Veil. Lucky for us, both Bridal Veil and The Mens Club are located in Singapore, and conveniently, right in Orchard – Delfi Orchard – 402 Orchard Road.
When James first proposed, we were lost and since I was totally caught off guard, we had no idea where or what the next step was. Other than booking of the hotel, people often tells us to book my gowns early as the design that I want may be booked by other brides-to-be already. However, I wasn’t sure if I want my gowns to be rented or bespoke then. I also dislike the idea of wearing the same gowns as other brides so I was surely leaning towards bespoke more.
It didn’t take me long to make a decision. I made an appointment with Michelle from Bridal Veil and my mind and heart already knew what I wanted whenĀ I stood outside Bridal Veil for the first time – even before I entered the shop. The gowns and suits that were showcased behind the glass panels caught my attention. All of them look edgy yet elegant and classy.
I remember telling Michelle this “I want something that still speaks me and I can still look like myself at the end of the day.” The bottom line is – I don’t need anything too fanciful. I just want to be myself.
I was also given different fabrics and colors to choose from and I ended up with Satin and The Great Gatsby – Black, White and Champagne. I love satins because of the simplicity and shine.
Michelle knew exactly what I wanted and showed me sketches of the gowns that she had specially designed for me. To be honest, it was such a difficult decision because all of them were so beautifully drawn. How do I even settle with 1 out of the few? One point that she was spot on was that James is more daring than me in terms of dressing. My head turned to her when she said that and I went “wow.. she really took the time and effort to study our styles and characteristics.” Boy.. I was so touched.
After we are done with the designs selection, Michelle arranged for more appointments for me – from the skeleton fitting to the finalized measurements. If there is one thing that I do not have to worry about for my wedding, it would be our suits & gowns because I went to the right designer and team (Yi Xia & Cherie), the right friends.
Trust me when I said I do not have to worry a single bit about my Gowns. Michelle is a perfectionist. She thought of everything for me from my theme, to the designs and everything that you can think of.
My gowns are not exactly simple. Take a look at the picture below. The layerings were so perfect. I could almost feel their hardworking in putting the different layers together.
James had his suits designed by Colin from The Mens Club and it was always a joy having Colin around because he loves to joke around. Both Michelle and Colin are so nice that they treat every bride & groom as friends. By the way, The Mens Club also designs bespoke suits for the ladies if you ever need one.
James had 2 different suits designed by Colin, which I will not be revealing them at this post for now. Stay tuned for the second post.
Now, back to my gowns. I think everyone’s favourite has got to be the Pink Cheongsam I wore for my tea ceremony and sending off of the guests at night. Each flower was painstakingly hand cutout by Michelle and her girls from a Kimono fabric that Michelle had sourced from Japan. My mother-in-law even asked me to buy over the cheongsam so that I can wear it for future dinner(s).
One little issue I had was my tummy. I couldn’t bring myself to cut down on carbs during the fittings. Michelle kindly shared tips with me on the cutting down on cuts and how to walk in a cheongsam gracefully. I hope I didn’t disappoint her on my wedding night.
What can I conclude from my first post?
It is important to choose the correct people for your wedding. They literally strike off an item from your To-Worry-About list. We were very very fortunate to walk down the aisle in gowns and suits from Bridal Veil and The Mens Club. No words can describe how proud we feel to be dressed in them.

Is Si Dian Jin (åē¹é) still important during čæ大ē¤¼?
Nowadays, a lot of youngsters would conveniently make do without all the traditions. The bottom line is as long as you are happy, that is all that matters right?
However, as the elder daughter of a traditional family, some traditions are still very important to me. For example, I feel that Si Dian Jin (åē¹é) is a must for my wedding as I value the meaning behind this set of jewellery. Generally, it means acceptance into the groom’s family in short.

Although a typical set of Si Dian Jin (åē¹é)Ā consists of a Necklace, a Ring, a pair of Earrings and a Bangle but it is really up to oneās preference. Some may prefer to pick an additional pair of earrings instead of a bangle. For me,Ā I still went ahead with the 4 typical pieces.
However, I do not want the usualĀ åē¹é withĀ the piglets on the necklace because I want it to still fit my daily life after the wedding instead ofĀ tucking them into a safety box. Almost all my friends kept theirĀ åē¹é away because they find the designs undesirable.
I specifically told my parents-in-law and my parents that I prefer Goldheart MODE Gold 916 Si Dian Jin designs.
Yeah, I received 2 sets of them because my parents got me a set of åē¹é for my bridal gift too.
To be honest, I was also quite afraid that my Mother-in-law would buy me jewellery with piglets so I chose the designs myself. James helped me with the decision of course.

Benefits of drinking Ginger Tea – Dr Ginger
It is no secret that I suffer from very bad cramps every month because it has become a norm for me to whine on my Instagram Story every month!
Last month, I was whining non-stop and I was asking for remedies in my Instagram and what shocked me was the overwhelming responses you guys gave! One of it was to drink Ginger Tea to help with the pain but my reply was āI hate the taste of ginger tea because the ginger smell is too strong :(ā.
I am fine with food that contains Ginger but not the tea because unlike the food dishes, it doesnāt come with accompanying sauces or flavors.
However, I decided to give Health Domain Dr Ginger a try because I know the brand well. Hands up if you are drinking their Dr Oatcare too! Haha.
I was initially very reluctant to try because I was still quite scared of the ginger taste. However, the tea turned out to be mildly sweet and nice because contains brown sugar! Oh yay, finally found a Ginger Tea brand that I wonāt say no to. If you are wondering, the tea is free from artificial flavourings, so the truth is, you are enjoying the aroma of a real aged ginger.

Reflections on 2017
So many things happened this year and as usual, change is the only constant (k).
There were a lot of ups and downs this year but thankfully, there were more happy moments than bad ones. One of the biggest change is probably my status, going from attached to engaged.

They say that a girl can get all insecure after the proposal / marriage planning and that is certainly true. I have seen so many cases of separation and they kind of bring down my confidence in marriage a little. I guess all I can do is to believe in my other half, and make things work out from there.
In fact, I am only left with 6 months before the actual day and people have been asking me if I am done with my wedding planning but the truth is, THE ONLY THING WE DID WAS THE BOOKING OF OUR HOTEL. Holy!!
I went round asking for recommendations for a videographer and photographer and received a lot of recommendations to the extent where I don’t know where to start. I thank god for all your help though!! I think I should just settle our outfits first before worry about the others. Haha.
James already had his list of brothers and I had none. I actually had a list of 6 (whom I have yet to approach) but I need to reconsider the list because I came to a conclusion that I needed only real friends who live close to my heart.
Moving on, our flat will actually come before the wedding and we have issues with the key collection which was/is supposed to happen in Dec 2017/ Jan 2018. That is because of some inheritance issues from James’ end. This is the first time that I am sharing this online.
Do you know that there is no such thing as TRANSFERRING of property from one’s name to another? Both you and/or your family member will have to bear the seller and/or buyer stamp duty! It was quite a HUGE sum that the AwYong family had to fork out to do a transfer so as to ensure that we get to keep our property. We could use that money to pay for 30-50% of a 3-bedroom HDB flat.
I must say that I am quite disappointed with how our system works and how inflexible they can get. Talk about inheritance… They probably see it as another way to milk money out of the citizens.
And then… my sister’s case. My parents have been going to our MP almost every month at the start of the case to now, once every 3-4 months and was promised countless emails of updates but to no avail or sound. It was all empty promises each visit. I shall not touch on this topic further before I get all emotional.
One of the best decisions made other than saying yes to the proposal is my lasik surgery done at Shinagawa with Dr.Lee! I have been / am still getting a lot of emails and questions on the surgery and some of you even messaged me to ask for my full details so as to get a discount. I don’t have any discount codes for you guys but they did tell me that they have this referral system where by friends and family of the patient can get a $XXX of their lasik by quoting the name of the patient. I guess you guys can try quoting mine? HAHA.
And more good stuffs? I must admit that I have been quite LUCKY this year! A lot of people kept commenting that I kept winning at lucky draws which is not entirely false. I think I won 3 out of 5 draws this year?
Hahaha. I have yet to redeem my hotel staycations from Magnum and another one at a Food tasting! I also recently won an iPad Mini 4 from my workplace’s annual Christmas party this year! Actually… other than that, I don’t remember winning any other stuffs but I am feeling very blessed already! I don’t ask for luck but health for my family and I. I have been falling sick like crazy this year, especially this year end. May 2018 be better, and healthier for me and every one reading this post!

Don Don Donki is finally in Singapore!
IF you have been to Japan before, I am quite sure that you may have stepped into Don Don Donki before!
I took a media tour today and I must say that I am amazed! Their price points are not a lot higher than the Japanese store itself! You will also feel as though you are stepping into Japan once you step into the store.
Don Don Donki Orchard Central is their first flagship outlet in Asia and they aim to position the store as a “Japanese Brand Specialist” by offering products that are either made or designed in Japan.
The double-storey retail space is also open 24/7 so you can always pop by and do some late night shopping there.
They carry a wide variety of goods including food, household items, cosmetics and novelty goods.
My favourite sections have got to be the beauty section and party section!
It really does feel like an amusement park here! And I swear that I will never come out of the shop empty handed ever. There is simply too many things to buy!
