NEW: My new SPECKY look!

Wooot. A spectacles lover just got herself another pair of spectacles! A geeky one this time round!

I think I have 7-8 prescription glasses already :O

Didn’t expect myself to make this because I wasn’t at my usual optical shop. It was just another usual shopping day with the family. Nonetheless, it was a happy day! The silver frame is super in trend nowadays. I even got quite a few people asking me where I got it from.

Let me know if you like it or not? 😀

#Selfie alert!

Charity: Arbutus Of Passion And Imagination

Do you like the idea of One Of A Kind? Do you like charities? How about shopping for a good cause?

All 7 one-of-a-kind-only Arbutus #OfPassionAndImagination Limited Edition timepieces, each featuring an original work of fine art, are on exhibition at VivoCity (Level 1). Do visit them this weekend because you can read more about the artist’s inspirations and design.

The exhibition is right outside Tangs just in case you can’t find them.

Each timepiece retails at $1,800 (without GST) and all profits will go to the charity organisation of the Artist’s choice. I always thought that it s a good idea to give back to the society. What makes it more meaningful is that the artist’s has a choice of donating them to a charity of their choice. Five watches will be funded to The Business Times Budding Artists Fund and the other two, to Nature Society as one of the artist loves nature.

Arbutus AR802, makes up the body of the watch which is a modified self-winding movement with a Swiss-made barrel for accuracy. We all know how expensive Swiss-made watches can be. Right?

Both Ying and Tiffany Lovage came out with 2 designs each. Ying is a nail artist while Tiffany is in the tattoo business.

I was very inspired by Tan Chong Bin because he has a lot to speak for – about his life. If he ever writes a book about his life, I will be more than happy to read it.

How does a Garang Guni turns into an artist – Something we all need to know. Something we need to learn in life – Never give up.

(Image taken from Arbutus Facebook Page)

A total of 3 sculptures, 1 painting, and 2 watches done by artist Tan Chong Bin are featured at Arbutus Watches’ charity event. So far, the painting and one of the sculptures have been sold! In fact, given his background, I think it makes his timepiece EVEN MORE MEANINGFUL. I honestly want to own one out of the two he designed.

Meet Peter Draw, 32, a children’s artist who has broken four Guinness World Records. I love how passionate he is towards his job and the kids who needed his help. He has a humble and kind personality that seems very approachable. We need such personality to bring hopes to the kids. Not only that, I noticed that he spends time with Senior Citizens as well. Don’t you love how he gives back to the society?!

For his timepiece, his design features Ai, the character in the face is combined with the installation piece – “First, Love”. Truly a piece to describe someone with such a big and generous heart.

Head down to VivoCity to check out all the 7 pieces if you are free this weekend 🙂

Shop: Jamco Optical

We all have that one optical shop that we’d always go back to. I used to go back to the same one until I started to doll myself up. That’s when I went around looking for cute frames and in-trend sunglasses.

After a sponsorship with JAMCO Optical Co 2 years ago, he is the only optical shop that I have been going back to for both shades and glasses. They are located at Katong Shopping Centre – a lot may feel that the shopping centre is an old place. But old means gold.

You will be very surprised by the variety of brands JAMCO carries from Dior, Rayban, Oliver Peoples, USH and SO MUCH more.

Don’t be surprised when you find bigger brands like Thom Browne there too. Like I said, old is gold. Most of the brands can be found in Orchard Road as well but at 30-40% higher than what JAMCO is retailing at.

Just request for the brand and who knows, the bosses in there might be able to bring out an entire box of them for you to choose from!

James rely a lot on shades, especially when he is driving so looking for the right pair is important. This boy has almost 10 pairs from different brands with some bought from JAMCO as well. I used to spend my yearly optical allowance here too. HAHA.

I seriously don’t mind a pair of DIOR technologic sunglasses as well! This is the most IN style right now. I know one day, when it is out of season, the price will drop… But if I buy mine from JAMCO, I don’t even have to worry about the price dropping because I got it at a more affordable than outside.

I am very keen in Oliver Peoples as I am quite into vintage looking spectacles now so I went down to find look at them after comparing the prices in Orchard. I walked into one of the store and was quoted $790 for the frame but JAMCO quoted me $600+ for the same pair.

Sometimes they have in-house promotions as well so I may even end up getting it at $500+!!

My boy was quite into vintage-looking yet high quality frames after going through all the designs at JAMCO. He ended up falling for USH.

This is something so different from his usual look! We are going to create more looks with our selection in Instagram. I will also consolidate the looks and post them in another post soon. So do follow us on our Instagram handle at @maybelinesim and @james_awyong!

Jamco Optical & Trading Co. is located at #B1-15 Katong Shopping Centre Singapore 437844.

The sleek design of the Melissa iconic flat gets an Alice in Wonderland makeover with candy and transparent colours. The Melissa x Alice in Wonderland collection is an addition to the ‘Dance Machine’ – Melissa Fall Winter 2016 collection. Highlights of the Fall Winter 2016 collection include new styles from Jason Wu, Melissa Just Dance and the return of the Melissa Flox.

New Balance 580 Sneakers Pop Up Store

To celebrate New Balance 580’s 20th Anniversary, the outlet at *Scape is currently converted into a one-of-a-kind pop up gallery.

The pop up store will be there from now to 17 July and you will be able to see the evolution of 580.

The gallery will also house a special exhibition of past limited edition collaborations with global sneaker stores, retailers and fashion labels. These include Mita Sneakers, Stussy, HECTIC, Undefeated, Colette, Wings + Horns, Bait, Packer Shoes, and New Era. The pop-up gallery will see exclusive launches of limited edition 580’s, as well as special 580 merchandise.

Fans will also receive a special edition pair 3D printed lace locks with every purchase of the 580 at the pop-up gallery on 11th June.

It was truly an eye opener for the both of us because we are fans of sneakers. Even though we have more than ten pairs of new balance at home, you won’t be able to find a pair of 580 in our shoe cabinet. Hence, this is a great opportunity for us to test the comfort and design of the model.

You will be surprised to know that even though the shoes are of the same model, the design can varies from lifestyle to light training and price varies from $149 to $229.

After New Balance collaborated with Mita Sneakers, a Japanese brand, it became a favourite among sneaker lovers. This year, the brands are collaborating again on New Balance MRT580. Only 24 pairs will be available in Singapore at the price of $229. Do visit the store at *Scape, #02-15 from 11am to 9.30pm daily from now till 17 July.

Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2016

“Samsung is honoured to be collaborating again with Orchard Road Business Association for this annual milestone that celebrates the best of the fashion industry in Singapore. Similar to how the designers have leapt beyond limits for their runway designs, Samsung is also pushing the frontier of what’s possible and we invite consumers to join us in rethinking what the Samsung Galaxy S7 4G+ and S7 edge 4G+ can do, “ said Eugene Goh, Vice President, IT & Mobile, Samsung Electronics Singapore.

When everyone is so going to dress up for Fashion Steps Out 2016, I ought to look for a nice dress too!

I wore Serendipity Lace Accents Dress in White courtesy of Wonderstella. Look for them at Far East Plaza.

My partner in crime wore what was on the models as well. If you look close enough, you will be able to tell that it is Uniqlo’s latest collection – UNIQLO X LIBERTY LONDON.

On him – MEN LIBERTY LONDON Premium Linen Printed Long Sleeve Shirt ($59.90). There are currently 4 designs to choose from.

For more information on the shirts: http://www.uniqlo.com/sg/store/men/collections/liberty-london.html

Everything in this collection is about floral and prints. You can expect Bra Dress ($49.90) and Tee Shirts ($19.90) from the female collection. I wish they have floral shirts for us too!

Other than clothes, they have room shoes ($14.90) and tote bags ($29.90) as well.

Too bad they can’t get infants to walk, otherwise you will be able to find newborn and kids there too!

Other than Uniqlo, there were 7 other designers as well. All of them came out with expected performances like FOX Kids.

Brands like MASH-UP, PHANTACi, Raffles Privato, REVASSEUR, Sean & Sheila, Thomas Wee were present as well.

MASH-UP was super cool that evening because they brought dogs to the runway. You know me, I go gah-gah over dogs. The collection looks playful and bold.

You will be able to buy the clothes and accessories shown on the runway from the stores around Orchard Road.

Ecco Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

Sponsored

What are the odds of meeting an old friend at an event? James “met” a friend whom he knew years ago there! I had wanted to give up my voucher to redeem a pair of shoes for James but because of her, the boy whom was stuck in reservist had a voucher too! Hehehe.

Thank you! You know who you are!!

Even though we have a friend in there, I am still going to tell you my very honest opinions for ECCO’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The collection was inspired by three themes: Bohemian Satorialist, Natural Imperfection and Biomimicry.

They are nothing but…… GORGEOUS!! When comfort meets fashion!

But first… Let me start with ECCO Intrinsic!

For people who love slippers, you will be happy to know that ECCO has a range of slippers in (I call them) happy colours!

ECCO Mens Intrinsic 2 Slip On ($279.90) is a sporty-looking pair of lifestyle sneakers. I thought they look a little like basketball shoes.

The slip-on design and athletic styling makes them an essential for any casual collection. A molded inlay sole cushions feet, while the flexible outsole is grippy and delivers outstanding traction.

ECCO W Intrinsic Karma Flat (behind) and Slip On (infront). Both at $219 each.

When I went down to the store to look at the shoes, there were actually a few ladies waiting to try them on.

ECCO W Intrinsic Karma Tie ($249.90). It comes with other colours like Orange and Blue as well. I was initially leaning towards another pair but I think I am settling for this because it looks like something I can wear daily.

The last thing I thought I can find in ECCO was the SUPER SUPER STYLISH and currently MOST-IN designs sandals!!

They will be launch in stores in April with the price of $209.90 and $239.90 for those with height.

This is by far, my favourite pair of sanesle – ECCO Freja Sandal ($209.90).

Now… Time for all the pretty colors I love!!

Who would have expected ECCO to come out with floral prints sneakers too?!

ECCO Womens Soft 7 Slip On (left; $259.90) and

\

My first choice was initially the pair on the right – ECCO CS14 Ladies Lie at $299.90. I love the rose dust colour! The soft leather sneakers is super comfortable as well. Also available in white.

The ECCO Handa Backpack on the bottom left is also available in black color ($399.90)

For mens wise, they have really good looking shoes and bags too!

ECCO Summer Moc in Denim Blue at $219.90 and ECCO Finley Small Messenger at $269.90.

I actually like Summer Moc in Camel. You should visit the stores and take a look at them yourself.

When I saw ECCO Colin, I was telling James he gotta get this!!! The pair of loafers is retailing at $239.90.

I hope I have tempt you enough! What you see here is probably only 40% of what they have/ will be launching in March and April.

Be sure to visit the stores for their Spring/Summer 2016!
