V for V-Series of the SevenFriday – The Launch of V1-01 & V2-01
How our fate with SevenFriday got intertwined
Last anniversary, I was given a challenge to find M a squared-face yet interesting watch. Frankly, how many squared-face watches out there in the market can command one’s interest? Fortunately, it wasn’t too tough for me because the watch addicts around me have already given me a great hint via their wrist: a SevenFriday watch!
SevenFriday Launch of V-series
For those whom had been following me on my Instagram (James_Awyong), they would have known that I have a vested interest into watches.
Hence, when Seven Friday organized a party for the launch of their new V-Series, it was absolutely a no-brainer decision for both of us! No way are we going to miss it! ><
Very thankful that we were given the privilege of attending the earlier media invitation slot. This gave us the luxury of time & space to slowly admire the beautifully-crafted SevenFriday timepieces!
Firstly, let me shed some light on SevenFriday & also some of the first few SevenFriday timepieces that greeted our eyes as we strolled into Club Kyo that day!
About SevenFriday
For those who are new to this brand, SevenFriday is a Zurich-based brand founded in 2010. Their inspiration came from industrial tools, elements, machines, engines and wheels & it’s remarkable that they were able to carve out a recognizable niche for themselves within such a short span of time.
In my opinion, they have succeeded rather well & taken the local market by storm with their first two launches, P- & M-series!
So back to the event itself, one of the friendly staff from RED ARMY WATCHES introduced me to the SevenFriday P2/1 with its Signature 47mm soft-edged squarish silhouette.
Definitely easy to spot it even across the room!
Another key feature of SevenFriday is its Case Back Engraving. Instead of a movement which comprised of the watch’s beating heart, customers are greeted with a bucket-load of technical information which breakdown the watch’s functionality.
Now to the critical question every Watch lover would enquire : What’s the movement (the engine of a watch) in a SevenFriday watch?
SevenFriday uses a Miyota movement, which explains for its reliability, yet at the same time ensuring it is not too flashy nor flamboyant.
Features of the V-series
Now for the Hero of this event: V series!
Taking the first look at the V-series did gave me a big surprise as they have taken steps away from their tried-and-tested squarish case shape! A move that worries me, simply because now it seems that SevenFriday has dug into grounds faraway from what they are known for!
Nonetheless, let’s see how this ‘prototype’ fare against its predecessor!
Notice the drastically different dial layout to the M- & P- Series? Seems they have added a few new useful features. One of which is the day/night indicator (located at 9 o’clock) with small seconds indicator.
They’ve continued to jazzed up the reading of time to a whole new level with a whole-new “complication”; Basically (from the picture) you can see that they have reduced the number of static hour markers to 4. What about the rest of the hours you may ask? This is where the centrally-mounted disc comes in to add that additional hour to the 0-4 scale shown between the traditional 3 & 11 o’clock positions.
If you aren’t up for the challenge of reading time in a new sophisticated manner or rather you just fancy sticking to the traditional mode of reading time, then this watch isn’t the thang for you unless you change that mentality first!
One other practical & useful feature of the V-series is its FSC (Fast Strap Change) system which allows the bearer to switch out of their various daily straps in a matter of seconds with a simple ‘click’! Feeling the chore of switching straps to match your daily outfit, now you can think again! 😉
Just when you think SevenFriday couldn’t get more noticeable across the room! Here’s a bigger version!
Good things come in pairs & so does the V-series in its two different colour combination! V1-01 (white/blue dialled variant) & V2-01 (black and yellow combination)
Nonetheless, this two handsome watches have the same technical buildup comprising of a 40-hour power
reserve and the Miyota 82S7 calibre!
M & Myself with the Star of the Night, V-series
The V2/01 stealing ALL the ‘Limelight’ from me literally! And me happily allowing that to happen! LOL!
Apart from those features I shared above, the best part of this watch is the feeling it gives to the bearer! One word: Proud! You just feel so proud to have it seating around your wrist because of the number of heads it’s gonna turn!
Thinking the V series fits only a masculine wirst? Scroll down a bit further!
A truly versatile timepiece which fits all demographics, don’t you think?
Despite it being a night to celebrate the birth of V series, there were other models which were vying for attention as if we were at a pageant that night!
One of the top contenders that night:
Contestant M2-2 in its beautiful suit of rose gold, chocolate & black! I am no less captivated by this limited production timepiece as I am for the newly-launched V-series!
Similarly in the same family of M-series, the M1-1! This one is definitely in my checklist for the upcoming Christmas ! ><
I love this picture (below) the MOST from the myriad of photos snapped that night! Not just because we both looked good together while having the V2-01 resting on M’s slender wrist! It is because I find this picture so “Ironically-Beautiful”! Think about it, ‘Black & White’ naturally invokes memories of history, vintage & most importantly Traditional. While here we have with us the V2-01 which has broken the traditional means of telling time with its interesting dials!
And finally a ONE-to-ONE moment with the watch & its brand that is bound for greatness & be remembered down the long road of history for its interesting way of portraying time!
