I would love to call this post the part II to my Casio GPW-1000’s one where I shared all its wonderful Hi-Tech features! Since the day I owned my first G-Shock GPW-1000, I have always been pleasantly surprised by the kind of advanced technology Casio incorporates into their premium G-Shock watches!
Never knew that within such a short span of time, I was going to be surprised again! We recently attend an event held at ION Sky where Casio Singapore announced the arrival of their G-Shock MTG-G1000D, the latest addition to the premium line-up of Metal Twisted G-Shock Timepieces.
We attended this event well geared up! For me, it just had to be my GPW-1000 Gravitymaster which is one of the two predecessors of MTG-G1000D to own the ‘GPS Hybrid Technology’! I must say since the day I own it, it has hardly left my wrist because in terms of functionality & practicality, it is almost unparalleled! Not to mention its versatility in matching most of my smart casual outfits (below)!
And so, I thought my heart for GPW-1000 will not waver even for a second regardless how the MTG-G1000D appear later on!
Whereas for M, she was armed with the most exquisitely-looking invitation card ever received! It was fully made of metal which exudes a strong sense of ‘Absolute Toughness’, a mantra which every G-Shock watches lives by!
We reached pretty early that day which gave us ample time to roam around the room & enjoy the exhibition of other G-Shock models.
One of the models that caught our attention was definitely the ‘MR-G’ series, the MOST premium & advanced in Casio’s premium range of timepieces! The Ultimate dream for all G-Shock wearers!
Ok! Let’s not digress from the actual Hero of the event: the MTG-G1000D! Finally unveiled by the Special Guest that flew in from Japan for this event!
Now, let’s take a closer look at this beauty! Even better, why not let’s just make a comparison with my ‘Beast’ (GPW-1000D) on the wrist?
My heart raced upon having these two Titans on my wrist at one go! And for a moment, my heart not only raced but also did waver upon the first introduction of this latest MTG-G1000D on my wrist!
From the exterior outlook, it is obvious the MTG has a more refined & luxurious outlook thanks to the highly-sophisticated polishing technique, Sallaz polishing to give it a stunning mirror-like finish.
On the other hand, my GPW-1000 is leaning more towards a serious outdoor watch with its rugged design. However, like the GPW-1000, the MTG-G1000D has a sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating which explains for the ease of reading time even under strong sunlight! And let the strong sunlight come I say, because not only do you get to admire the beautiful cool blue reflection off the sapphire crystal glass, it also serves to charge both watches due to their Tough Solar power System(Solar-charging system). Sweet deal, isn’t it?
Now, moving over to its interior (technological built-up), the MTG-G1000D is an upgrade from its previous version, the MTG-S1000 with the GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor feature added in. I am absolutely in love with this Hi-Tech feature found in both models! Basically, it is a high performance time correction system that receives time-calibration signals carried by both GPS satellite & terrestrial standard time radio waves.
To put these big words into layman, it simply means to say both watches allows for accurate time syncing in ANY location in ANY PARTS OF THE WORLD even when you are standing INSIDE ANY BUILDING! This is fulfilled with a simple ‘push’ on the side button of the watch!
This function sure gives all the wearer of G-Shock MTG-G1000D a good bang for the buck!
Not only so, MTG-G1000D also contains the Casio’s proprietary Triple G Resist for resistance to extreme vibration, centrifugal gravitational force, and shock. This feature confers the unparalleled toughness & durability to the MTG-G1000D.
A NEW feature (NOT present in both the GPW-1000 & MTG-S1000) is the Dual Coil Motor that allows high-speed hand movement so you can easily switch between home time and local time displays on the main & inset dials by simply pressing a button. The reflection of accurate timing is almost instantaneous! Hate waiting for the adjustment of timing to occur on your watch? G-Shock just read your mind & solved it here!
Another NEW feature is the Advanced Core Guard Structure which boosts the watch’s shock-resistance using a newly developed spring-like fine resin (shown above). As such, the wearers especially the careless ones, do not have to worry about hard knocks while on the go as the resin will act as cushion to protect the module & watch face!
Triple G Resist + Advanced Core Guard Structure make it feel like I am wearing an indestructible ‘Tank’ on my wrist! This watch is sure made to last a long long time…..
One last NEW feature is the Layered Composite Bracelet (shown as Black ‘H’ on the bottom bracelet in the above image) which confers tough additional strength & reduced weight simultaneously. This contributes to the whole light-weightedness of the watch at approx 198g (Total weight of watch). What better marriage than having light & extremely strong altogether in one watch!
These MTG-G1000D series is full crafted in Japan thus giving you the assurance of the world-renowned, top-notch Japanese quality! The MTG-G1000D also comes in two colour variation, stainless steel with either Blue (MTG-G1000D-1A2) or Black (MTG-G1000D-1A) coded City Code Rings.
Both models retails at SGD$1,799 from 3rd November 2015 onwards at ALL G-Factory store & Cortina.
