My trip to the TCM
I have been complaining about my backache for the LONGEST time. This issue started when I was in polytechnic where I had to carry a laptop to school everyday. I switched to a netbook which was only a few hundred grams but that doesn’t solve the issue.
I visited massage parlors to solve the issue but it only hides the issue. It doesn’t really solve it.
So sometime last month, I decided to give TCM a try. I went to Aegle Wellness.
Aegle Wellness is located at 44 Rochester Park, 139248 (nearest MRT Buona Vista).
It is only a short 3-5 minutes walk from Star Vista.
It is located at a very peaceful and quiet area which is really therapeutic. You can find other wellness clinic around Aegle Wellness too.
I told her receptionist that I was shocked because I expected it look very “chinese” and old because that is what traditional TCM looks like but Aegle Wellness looks westernized and you can even smell any herbs there.
So from there, I have already set a high for the Physicians. They have a group of professionals which can help you solve your issues like:
- Weight Loss
- Stress Management
- Sleeping Disorder
- Pre/Post Natal
- Women’s Wellness
- Livewell Program
While waiting for my turn, I was offered a cup of freshly brewed flower tea.
The rooms were neat and clean.
Chinese medications and herbs will be prescribed to you to help solve your issues. Although there are a lot of medications, you can still smell nothing.
Physician Kong consulted me and asked me a few questions about my concerns.
He took my pulse, created some pressure on my shoulders and back to conclude the affected area.
In the end, he concluded Acupuncture and Tui Na for me.
The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that there are patterns of energy flow (Qi) through the body that are essential for health.
Disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease. Acupuncture may, it has been theorized, correct imbalances of flow at identifiable points close to the skin.
Although I looked calm, I was super super scared because I have never done Acupuncture before. I am not afraid of needles but when it comes to a couple of needles at the same time…. ouchhhhh..
Physician Kong assured me that it is going to be painless and …
Indeed it was!!!!
I wouldn’t say that you can’t feel anything but all you can feel is an ant bite even though no numbing cream was applied.
Only 20 minutes was all it need after the needles were left on the neck area.
Do you know that you can use Acupuncture for Smoking Cessation too? I never knew!
Acupuncture has been used to help combat addiction and curb cigarette cravings for a long time. Many people have had success and now research is supporting these claims.
Acupuncture helps with smoking addiction in many ways. It stops jitters, curbs cravings, lessens irritability and restlessness, increases relaxation and helps detoxify the body. It can also restore balance in your constitution and jumpstart the healing process.
After doing Accupuncture, I did Tui Na.
It started from the front of the shoulders before “flipping” over to the back. The effect of Tui Na was instant! My muscles no longer felt tense and painful after the entire session.
Some simple exercises were also taught so that I can ease the muscle aches whenever I have them. Prolonged exercising can help solve the issue completely.
However, I can always go back once a month to prevent the issues from coming back.
