House of Roasted Duck

I love authentic Hong Kong food so I wouldn’t mind traveling over for their food to House of Roasted Duck for their food!

We all know that Hong Kong is a food heaven – especially their dim sum and meat! James and I were glad to know that we can find authentic Roasted Duck right in Bugis Village. Most of us love duck because of the juicy meat and the way it is cooked. Here’s good news for you, you should eat more duck because duck meat is very high in protein and minerals. Protein helps in cell synthesis and this includes healthy hair growth yo!

Other than that, Duck meat also contains mineral such as selenium, phosphorous, zinc, iron copper and sodium. Vitamins like riboflavin, niacin, thiamine, pantothenic acid, Vitamin B6 and B12 are also present. If you are suffering from anemia, I will strongly recommend you to add more intake of duck meat into your diet.

Executive Chef Lau Wai Keung is a native Hong Konger with close 40 years of local and overseas experience. I heard that they have opened another restaurant at Sultan Plaza (#01-08) with his signature dishes too!

Can’t wait to dig in!

Our first dish was Peking Duck – 2 Styles. The Peking Duck has crispy skin while the Roasted Duck has tender juicy meat. It was a tie between the two for me but the guys on the table preferred Peking Duck because of the crispiness. The skin was sliced off with minimal meat, which can either be eaten plain, or wrapped in hand-made flour crepe and eaten together with their special dipping sauce.

You can order hair of each for $52 (Whole). It’s like killing two birds with one stone because you can have the best of both worlds with just $52!

Not just roasted meats, you can also get authentic Congee, Rice and Noodles together with an assortment of Cantonese Dim Sum and Side Dishes as well!

We had the Twin Combo Noodle (Soy Sauce Chicken + Barbecued Pork, also known as Char Siew) at $8.80 (Dry version). I love the noodle texture because I love soft noodles. The thing that caught us by surprise was… although the noodles were soft, it was still springy. Gosh! Too good!

Mmm.. what delighted my tastebuds most was the Congee with Abalone and Roasted Duck at $12.80. The texture and taste of the congee is truly authentic!!

I was told that the Congee dishes are slow-cooked over a small fire for 3-4 hours to achieve its perfectly smooth texture.

Their Fried Rice with Diced Duck & Egg ($14/plate) is as good as it looks. You can chew cubes of duck meat and delight your tastebuds with its wok hei flavor

I wasn’t sure if the boys were too hungry or something but they were full of praises for the Braised Beef Brisket ($16) until I gave it a try. INDEED! The beef was so tender and juicy!

The side dishes like Shrimp Wanton Soup ($8.00), Deep-Fried Intestines ($10) and more were equally good. The fillings for the wantons were generous and the prawns were sweet and crunchy!

We also had Deep-Fried Bean Curd Roll with Prawn and Yellow Chives ($4.80) and this is one side which I can never get enough with its crispiness.

Can’t wait to bring my parents back!
