Cantonese Styled Steamboat in Heart of Singapore – Hua Ting Steamboat
Today, we introduce what’s heating the local ‘Hot Pot’ scenes recently! It is the <Hua Ting Steamboat> with their Cantonese-Styled Steamboat.
Does Hua Ting rings a bell? Yes, it is indeed the well-renowned award-winning <Hua Ting Restaurant> @ Orchard Hotel. As such, the <Hua Ting Steamboat> is just a stone’s thrown away from its sister restaurant; Located accessibly on the mezzanine floor of Claymore Connect which is the former Orchard Hotel Shopping Arcade.
For the interior wise, the tinge of orange coupled with a simplistic design exudes a warm feeling. Even though the restaurant seem to span a small space tucked in the corner of Claymore Connect at the first glance, it definitely does not have any issues accommodating 60 people. In additional, if you like a private dining experience, they also have two private rooms at your disposal.
We also had a very favorable dining experience much thanks to the friendly staff who were always ready to accede to our requests. They never showed any sense of irritability nor lackluster regardless the number of times we ordered the food!
The man behind the scene who is helming the kitchen is Desmond Wooi, the Head Chef with a vast 10 years experience in Chinese cuisines. This man sure plan to take on the Hot Pot scene by storm with its extensive menu of over 150 dishes + 8 soup bases at affordable prices coupled with a strong lineage born from Hua Ting Restaurant’s success!
They adopts an open kitchen concept which benefits the patrons like us as we are offered a first-hand view of live seafood being freshly prepared!
There is no one sauce that can satisfy all taste buds and hence in the good spirit of DIY, they have a very good spread of sauces to go with your seafood and meat dishes! Just look at that number of sauces! Frankly, we could not finish trying all of them that night!
One of my favourite dish that night was the <Hot Pot> with its generous portion of succulent chicken braised to perfection, drawing flavours from the spices & condiments before soup base is added to complete this meal with assorted mushrooms, vegetables and noodles.
One of the key subject in Hua Ting Steamboat is their <Soup Base>. Each soup base is meticulously prepared fresh daily from scratch and painstakingly simmered for hours!
I shall leaving you to uncover your favourite from their 8 specially-crafted nourishing soup bases. To name a few of the popular ones, they are the traditional <Shark’s Bone Cartilage Soup>, <Superior Fish Soup with Winter Melon> (the Chef Creation with the use of premium ingredients such as Carp fish and dried Scallops) & even our local all-time favorite <Bak Kut Teh with whole Pork Bone> (mixed with herbs eg Dang Gui, Dang Shen, Bei Qi, Chuan Gong) !
One thing I like about their dishes is the fact that I can enjoy good food without feeling sinful. Even better when it improves our health at the same time! For this, every soup has their own beneficial health effects. Let’s say, you are feeling heaty from all the late nights, go for the Superior Fish soup with Winter Melon which is meant to be cooling. If you wish to promote more blood circulation, then the Bak Kut Teh is the way to go as the medicinal herbs helps to boost this aspect!
Soup poured in &..Voila! Am all ready to tuck in while dressed in their apron!
Very thoughtful of them to offer these aprons which will come in handy especially for office workers who doesn’t wish to soil their clothes as they enjoy their lunch!
Guess you must be curious what is being offered in the extensive menu. Unfortunately, I am unable to list nor show all of them here. If not, you are going to spend the next 2 hours reading this post!
So shall just show the key ones which give a good lingering taste that night!
One of them is the <U.S Kurobuta Pork Belly>! It is a total OMG! So much so I was still stuffing them in upon a full stomach!
Just look at how ‘white’ (the fatty layer) it is, you know its just screaming ‘Juicy’! Indeed, the taste of meat upon steaming was palatable enough to stand alone even without coupling with any sauces!
Most of the meat dishes such as the <Pork> & <Beef> slices were imported fresh from overseas. Mostly, either from U.S or Japan. Quality wise, you can be assured it is top-notched standard!
Some of the other food items are such as Drunken Chicken, Sliced King Garoupa ‘Long Dan’ , Fresh Shrimp paste ball stuffed with Minced pork, Fresh Scallop ball stuffed with goose liver paste, Dace Fish Paste Ball with preserved Tangerine peel, Handmade fish paste noodles, potato glass noodles etc.
<Enoki Wraps with Golden Mushrooms>
Big slabs of <Australian Fresh Scallops>
<Tiger Prawns>
<Dou Chang Fish>
To round up the meal on a sweet note, they also have fantastic homemade dessert of the day such as Chilled Lemon Grass Jelly with Longan.
For those who prefer set menus during lunch time, diners can opt for a quick and convenient lunch set menu affordably priced at $26 per pax. The lunch set features a hotpot ‘Gan Guo’ also known as casserole, which is a contemporary twist from the traditional style of Cantonese Steamboat. Served cooked, diners can immediately tick into the hotpot such a Spicy Chicken, Kurobuta Pork Belly and Sea Perch. Then the soup bases are added to complete the meal with assorted mushrooms, vegetables and noodles. Pretty much what we had that night but at a much faster pace since people are rushing for work here!
Dinner Set menus are also attractively priced at $48 and $58. Mix and match tasty soup bases with choice of succulent meats, fresh seafood, handmade meatballs and assorted greens, some of which as seen above.
Hua Ting is just the perfect ‘Hot-Spot’ you should visit if you happen to be in town as they are not only accessible but also offers great value premium quality steamboat for you and your business partners/loved ones!
