Hidden Gem Cafe: Mon Bijou
My first candle of the year was celebrated at Mon Bijou.
This bistro is really a hidden gem! Although it is located inside Orchard Hotel (Claymore Connect) coupled with its posh exterior, the pricing is certainly not as expensive as you thought! In fact, I think it is more affordable than some of the cafes populating around our small island.
Manage to spot the glass paneled kitchen at the back? This allows diners to watch their meals prepared à la minute! Whatever they gonna enjoy on the plate will be an ‘open secret’.
So down to the question on whose the man behind Mon Bijou’s creative pastries?
That would be award-winning Executive Pastry Chef for Millennium Hotels and Resorts, Nicolas Maugard, from France. What’s more impressive is his credential of 17 years of pastry and dessert making experiences in Top-notched michelin-starred restaurants in France, Mauritius, Monaco and even China. This wealth of exposure sure is hard to find!
“Mon Bijou is an upscale brand that aims to win the hearts of Singaporeans with its unique offerings,” Mr Maugard added confidently.
Look at that colorful array of tantalizing desserts below seeking to melt every girl’s heart~!
They are surely a jack of all trades and still master of all trades! Just take for instances this drink J is having! It wasn’t easy for me to steal a sip off it but still I manage to do so after couple of attempts! It was very well made with a thick wholesome texture & yet not too sweet with the generous portion of honey added to it!
Well, now let me introduce the heroes for the day! J’s personal favourite would be this. In fact, I think it is my favourite too – Linguine Aglio Olio with River Prawns ($22).
Wagyu Beef Cheese Burger $26). James chose medium for the beef.
The portion is bigger than what it actually looked like here. We couldn’t even finish it.
The Truffle Scrambled Eggs ($16) is da bomb too!!!

The food was great but wasn’t as great and sweet as those people I had lunch with! J & Jin actually threw me off with this little advance surprise Bday celebration! Very touched by their sweet intention!
The above are mainly those we tried based on our own delight! However, there are many other highly-reccomended highlights of this bistro which includes a range of decadent desserts, such as MB Brioche French Toast and Raspberry and Lychee Macaron, and all-day breakfast signature items such as Crab Cake Benedict and Roasted Vegetable Frittata, coupled with healthy juices and fresh fruit smoothies.
There are also chocolate diamonds and assorted macarons to satiate those with a sweet tooth. We will definitely be back to give these a try!
Mon Bijou is also the perfect place for web surfing as diners can tap into the free WIFI and conveniently located power points to charge their electronic devices.
The pastries and desserts are freshly baked daily and they are open from 11am to 8pm daily.
