Chabuton- Introducing the Italian-Tomato Ramen
Sponsored
Here once again we are back to the brainchild of Chef Yasuji Morizumi: Chabuton! A household name for Ramen not just in Japan but also in Thailand after being crowned the ‘King of Ramen’ by TV Champion (A popular TV programme in Japan). Now, they are looking to slowly taking over Singapore by storm with their superb ramen dishes too!
It would be no wonder even if one day they successfully do so as they are such an expert when it comes to the chapter of exciting one’s taste buds with extremities of taste! Just take for instance during our last Chabuton food-tasting, they attempted to “burn” our tongue & lips with their super spicy ramen! This round, it spans right to the opposite side of the spectrum: Sweet! Maybe they are making it up now for burning our tongue the last round! Lol!
This time, they are launching their new ‘Italian-Tomato Ramen’, a unique Japanese style marinara ramen with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and pork belly!
I must say I have tried all sorts of Ramen after knowing M as she is such a hugh fan of Ramen! But a sweet one!? Ok this is defintely my taste buds’ virgin experience!
So, we attended the food-tasting @ the 313 branch with an open mind with regards to this new dish! Ok not to mention an open mouth too!
Just to shed some light on this latest healthy creation from Chabuton, it is prepared using fresh, juicy tomatoes which gave the rich soup broth a sweet acidic edge. These tomatoes used are either imported from Hapan or are sourced or produced by companies specially appointed by the Japanese Headquarter team. Not only so, these tomatoes contains high level of Vitamin A & C as well as the cancer-fighting antioxidants, Lycopene which seeps into the soup. This is truly taste meets health!
So back to that night: As usual, I am impressed by the chef’s fast pace of whiping up of our dishes. Hence, wasn’t long before the dish came! Well, we totally couldn’t tell from the outlook that it is tomato-based. In fact, it look as though we were about to have our previous super spicy ramen!
Importantly, question is how does the tomato-based broth taste?
Could only say my taste buds were in for a good treat! The broth had a very unique taste; the broth was thick & has a strong sweet taste with a slight tinge of sourish after-taste. Certainly something which a tomato lover would appreciate on the spot!
For me, I am particular about the portion of non-carbo related ingredients placed into the dish. Pleased to say that the portion of pork belly was pretty generous. Not to mention, the quality of the pork used is of good quality and the meat was very consistent in its tenderness & texture.
Noodle wise, I have absolutely nothing to complain about as they did it exactly how I wanted it to be done: Slightly tougher & more ‘Q’! This couldn’t had been possible if not for their flexibility in allowing patrons suggest how they want their ramen and broth to be prepared. Patrons can choose the texture of their noodles, from soft to hard. Furthermore, customers can even choose how unctuous and salty they want their dish to be.
We also had some side dishes to compliment our ramen. One of the must try in Chabuton is definitely their Gyozas! They are crispy & yummy with a generous portion of filling.
Make your way down to try out this new Italian-Tomato-Ramen dish! I am sure you will slurp your way through this dish till the very last drop of the broth!
