Filling up the loss of volume at Halley Medical Aesthetics

I was all along very concerned about the loss of volume at the cheeks and under eye areas because I always look tired and old despite having enough sleep.

Even though I mask everyday, it doesn’t really help, as the masks can never recover the volume loss. Take a look at the picture below to see what I meant.

When I finally decided to do something about it, I went to Dr. Terence Tan from Halley Medical Aesthetics as I used to visit him regularly.

I was very surprised when he recommended me to do fillers for an area that I had not thought about, which is the area towards the back of my jaw and between my cheekbone and jawline. I thought I already have a square face to begin with and adding more volume to that area will make me look fat. I also told Dr. Terence Tan that I don’t want to look as though something was done to my face.

Dr. Terence Tan explained that I have a concave or crescent moon face shape, which would require a filler augmentation technique different from people with a convex face shape. He also highlighted that I have a prominent, high sloping jawline. That feature, combined with some superficial fat near my jawline, made the hollowness between my cheekbone and jawline even more obvious. And this issue, together with the loss of volume at my cheeks, was making me look tired. The nasolabial fold (line coming down from the side of my nose) and the marionette or smile lines (from the side of my mouth) are also making matters worse.

In answer to my concern, Dr. Terence Tan assured me that he won’t be adding a lot of filler to the side of my face but “just a tiny bit to smoothen out the hollow”. He also explained that the filler in that area will help to lower the angle of jaw, making it less harsh and angled but feminine and gentle sloping.

After his professional advice, I went ahead with his recommendations. He recommended doing dermal fillers on four different areas – my cheeks, marionette lines, nasolabial line, and the hollow cheek area between my cheekbone and jawline.

He prescribed a combination of soft and firm fillers from Algeness. It is my first time hearing about the US brand and trying out Algeness fillers but Dr. Terence Tan told me that the fillers are natural and organic as it is made from purified agarose gel. The plus point is that agarose gel is biodegradable and biocompatible with our human body and their website says that the fillers are 100% natural and safe.

Dr. Terence Tan also told me that he chose the Algeness brand as it will address my other concern about fillers: that it will spread and make me look unnatural. He explained that Algeness is a cohesive filler, which reduces the chance of filler migration/spreading.

As I have pretty low pain tolerance, he also recommended injecting the fillers with his “Magic Needle” technique to reduce discomfort and bruising.

This is me before fillers. Excited and scared at the same time. Just take a close look at the hollow areas under my eyes 🙁

Prior to the treatment, Dr. Terence Tan mixed lidocaine, an anaesthesia, with the Algeness fillers so I did not really feel anything during the treatment.

Fillers were injected via a Magic Needle. Although he calls it a needle, the Magic Needle is actually a cannula which helps to distribute the filler more evenly as it is blunt and extremely pliable. You can read more about his method for the micro-cannula here: http://blog.halleymedicalaesthetics.com/the-art-of-injecting-dermal-fillers/

I think I scared myself too much because there was almost no discomfort and Dr. Terence Tan was very assuring throughout which made me feel really comfortable.
I left the clinic within 50 minutes (including consultation, numbing and treatment). I can safely say that this can be a quick lunchtime procedure! There weren’t marks or bruises on my face so I could resume work after that.

I really love the results because I don’t look tired anymore! The results are so natural and I think I just went back in time.

Take a look at the before & after photos below for comparison.

Nose Fillers Top Up at TFA

Hello all, I am back with another update for my beauty journey! As you all know, I had nose fillers done last year. This year, I am back at The Face Aesthetic to do my fillers top up!!

And because I used Juvederm Volift last year, Dr. Zhang chose Volift again for me this year.

Fillers are amazing. They can:

– Fill lines and creases
– Volumizes, plumps and lift cheeks, jawless, temples, and many more

*Face is a little swollen at certain angles due to my wisdom tooth surgery.

Fillers is the easiest way for aesthetics enhancement!

1. Apply numbing cream and wait for 20 minutes
2. Clean the numbing cream away
3. Inject

AND DONE!

Different doctors have different perspective of beauty. Luckily I met Dr. Zhang because he prefers the nose to look naturally high. He only injected a little at the tip on the nose and the nose bridge.

I was very happy with the results. There was no bruising or pain at all. He also taught me how to massage the nose so that the fillers will not “move” out of place. I massaged the nose diligently for the first week and it was pretty obvious it was very well taken care of 😛

*Nose fillers injected in the picture below

The second visit was for my review which was 1 week after the fillers were injected.

The nose looked perfectly fine and since we had some fillers left, he proceeded to inject them into my chin.

Now…with fillers on the chin..  Can you see the bulb on the tip of the chin? The bulb made my face looked so much smaller and sharper! Can I say that my confidence is greatly boosted?

It’s like I don’t have to do anything to my face anymore! My makeup was done within minutes because I no longer have to contour my face much.

I really really like Dr. Zhang’s perception of beauty and his experience in the field of beauty.

Halley Medical Aesthetics – Smile Lines

It is good to be happy, it is nice to laugh crazily or smile 24 hours a day. I am the kind who would laugh like mad and smile widely to stupid stuffs. But due to the prolonged smiling and laughing, wrinkles have comfortably form themselves at my smile line!! Wrinkles are the last thing we want because they are extremely hard to get rid of!!!

Smile lines seriously make me look much older than my actual age and make up will cake after a few hours at that area. I went to google for more information on concealing the smile lines but they always lead to fillers. Having done fillers before, I know how instant the results can be. I thought of Halley Medical Aesthetics again since my nose filler was done there. There is a price to pay for when it comes to vanity 🙁

Below is a picture that I came across while google..

(Credits: zcosmetichealth.com)

Since I had to top up the nose fillers, I went ahead for smile line fillers! Dr. Tan recommended me to use Juvederm Volift for smile line fillers.

My face looked a little oily because the pictures were taken 15 minutes after the application of numbing cream.

Any leftovers would be used to inject on the areas under the eye. Let’s not waste the money and put it to good use at other places. Sadly, there was none left for me. 99% were used on the smile lines.

I am really comfortable with Dr. Tan so it is natural for me to visit him for future aesthetic concerns. Who on earth still smile happily when they are facing injections?

It may look scary but it is totally painless. For a person with such low tolerance for pain to say this…. you know you can really trust her that it is painless.

It all ended within 5 minutes…….

Let me show you why I wanted smile line fillers…

The crease or wrinkles or whatever you call it MADE ME LOOK SO OLDDDDD. WHY SO MANY UGLY LINES ON THE FACE WHY WHY WHY.

I need to hide my actual age away. The after-effect is very obvious!! Look at my smile lines now. I smile like a little girl now. No obvious wrinkles seen (unless I smile) and the face looked firmer and tighter no?

So I just transformed from an old woman to a girl with her youth again! Yay~~~

We can never be too happy with how we look can we? No one complains about being too young or too pretty!

Happier and fuller cheeks at Astique

As much as I am happy with my current look, there is no reason not to make it even better.

Aesthetics enhancements not only help one to look better, but also reverse the signs of aging. In my previous consultation with Dr. Matthew Yap, he told me that I would look better with fuller cheeks so I went back to Astique Clinic for cheek fillers!

Let’s go!

The fillers used previously on my chin and nose were none other than Juvederm. For my cheeks this time round, Dr Yap will be using Juvederm as well.

It is said to last longer than other fillers. Dr Matthew told me that the fillers on my nose and chin would last me for at least 6 months to a year!

It contains- Hyaluronic acid, a natural substance which can be found in the human body. And the chances of developing allergy Juvederm is very low as it is not derived from animal tissues.

Do you know that saggy cheeks can cause one to look even older than one’s actual age? What is worst is that lines would start appearing on the cheeks and this is more often than not, more noticeable in women than man.

The cheek lines would start to appear below the eye area first, before leading down to the cheek areas.

The benefits of cheek fillers are that it can instantly lift your cheeks and restore the lost volume. They are useful for restoring the shape of the cheek where the signs of aging often begin.

FYI, injection fillers also stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen!

No one is too young to talk about anti-aging. Cheek fillers are also good for people who have rather flat cheeks.

My side profile reveals my flat cheeks along with a tiny sharp nose and chin, with credits to the previous fillers done at Astique.

I am very satisfied with the current skin condition. If you’re wondering what I did to achieve such a glowy look, the answer is here.

Waiting for the numbing cream effect to take place….

And finalllyyyy, onto the huge comfy chair. I was feeling neither nervous nor scared because I knew that the pain score would be close to zero. All I was anticipating was the end result.

Making marks on my face….

Injecting the fillers….

Massage, rub and cooling the next injection area…

and I am done!

Fast, painless and non-invasive! Looking good in less than 45 minutes!
(Including the consultation, and waiting time)

A girl is always happier when she is prettier.

And happiest when she looks younger than her actual age.

Post Botox/Fillers – 3 months later

Attended my cousin’s wedding dinner in Dec and my relatives thought I slimmed down a lot because my face looked so much smaller/sharper!

I told them “No way! I put on 2kg since the last time you guys saw me. The fats are now well hidden and my face look smaller because of botox!”

Yes yes, I was referring to the session which I did at Astique Clinic 3 months ago.

http://maybelinesim.sg/2013/11/26/my-1st-experience-with-botox-and-fillers/

And I can have a prominent chin at the same time thanks to the chin fillers done as well!

Dr. Matthew told me that botox and fillers can last between 6 months to a year and I am hoping that mine can last up to a year because I don’t even have to worry about my face getting fat even though I put on weight. My face always look bloated when I put on weight, and yes, that is even if it is only a kg.

What can I say? Nothing! I am extremely satisfied with the results!

So what can botox/fillers do?

Basically nothing else, except making you happier because you can look so much prettier!

However, do remember to avoid rubbing the areas where you had fillers injection just incase the fillers go out of place! 🙂

My 1st experience with Botox and Fillers

I had always wanted a sharper nose and smaller face but never had the guts to do anything about it.

I was very glad to visit Astique for some facial enhancements. All thanks to My Fat Pocket and aesthetics hub! It was like a dream come true for me~~~~

As I was looking into the mirror, I was more determined that I needed a smaller and sharper face. And take a look at the dark circles around my eyes as well. I need to do something about it before it gets worst.

So while waiting for the doctor, I explored the clinic a little. You know, clinics always look like a typical clinic whereby you have the counter, waiting area and rooms. But Astique clinic looks like a little playroom where you get to browse through and try out the different skincare products.

This picture below shows a very clear view of my side profile. I feel that I have a button nose. The peak is a little sharp but the nose bridge just isn’t high enough. And my jaw line, it sure is far away from small and sharp. Lol.

The very young doctor, Mr. Matthew Yap, consulted me and told me what I needed for my face. He was also very friendly and patience towards me. As it was my very first time, I kept emphasizing on the pain score and time and again, he would assure me that it wouldn’t hurt a bit.

He also has very nice complexion himself!

I also wanted to try some fillers to soften the very visible smile lines so that I can look younger as the folds made my face look old and tired. Lesser lines also mean a clearer and cleaner look!

I was also really comfortable with him. He told me all I needed for my nose was a higher nose bridge.

The numbing cream was applied for 10-15 minutes and I was very skeptical of its effect because I really can’t bring myself to believe that a topical cream can actually stop all the pain that would come later.

I was of course, proven wrong. After the numbing effect has set, it was time for the the jaw botox. I am quite petite in size (but not short!) as you can see from my pictures, but I have quite a fat and big face. Who would complain that they have a sharp or small face anyway?!

I can hit 40kg and still have a chubby face. I don’t know why.

The numbing cream effect can last one for hours. It lasted me for nearly 4 hours i think, so there was no need for another application of numbing cream for the injections.

Biting my teeth to estimate the size of the muscle on my jaw before deciding on the amount of botox to inject.

I tend to chew on the left size of my face more, so the muscle on my left was almost twice the size of the muscle on my right! :O And this can result in a bigger face on the left (which was what happened to me). I realized that my left face was much bigger than my right even before the doctor told me that but had absolute no idea that what was the cause.

I could feel nothing when the needle went in. I did not know and refused to believe that I felt nothing at all! To think that I used to have SO MUCH fears for them.

I can only see the results for botox 2 weeks later. So hold on, I will do up another post to show you the huge difference!

And I am very much in love with the side profile of my face!

For fillers, Juvederm was used on me and it was said that the effect would last me between 6 months to a year.

I was really excited to see the final results. A higher nose bridge was always what I wanted.

You see, I could still laugh, so you should be able to guess my pain score.

To be honest, on a scale of 10, I would gladly rate it between 0 to 1. Likewise for the chin filler.

The chin filler was done to give the face a more almond-shaped kind of feel.

Pretty much the same for both fillers – Injection, Clean and Massage.

Below are some pictures for comparison.

Pre-procedures.

Nothing was done to the face. You can see visible cleave on my chin

Post procedures.

Do observe the chin in this picture. Cleave gone and the whole face looks sharper. This was exactly what the Doctor wanted to achieve. I really love the prominent chin.

Now, look at the side profile of the nose again. Can you see the higher nose bridge? I look so good in most pictures now! Save me some time on highlighting the nose bridge. Heh.

These procedures have certainly boosted my confidence level and I am really loving how I look now. I can’t wait to hear what Dr. Matthew has for me next!
